“Top Accommondation!”

“Food was exceptionally good with great choice. Staff pleasant and helpful.”

“What a great hotel. It is quite isolated, but is a little gem. Built in the 1930s, it retains many of its original art deco features and has been well maintained and sympathetically furnished for the period. After storms, we had a short power cut and I almost expected to hear a scream from a maid discovering a crime and Hercule Poirot appearing. The food was reasonable, if not sparkling but we did have a powercut in the middle of dinner and they coped admirably. The staff seemed quite...

“Lovely house with fab view of the Eden Valley.”

“We were walking the Pennine Way and stopped off at Bongate House after reaching Dufton and after walking/backpacking for most of the day. We had a very friendly welcome from Ann who on arrival looked after our every need. Breakfast was ample and tasty. The property suited our needs perfectly. Thank you Ann!”

“L'hotel offre tutti i vantaggi di un 4 stelle ma in un'atmosfera calda e famigliare. La cura nella scelta di ogni oggetto, la cortesia dello staff e la pulizia impeccabile fanno di questo luogo un posto speciale. La colazione è abbondante, gli ingredienti freschissimi e di qualità. C'è una buona scelta a buffet e in aggiunta un piatto caldo cucinato al momento. Super consigliato!”

“This has to be the craziest room I've ever stayed in, in a good way. The floors were sloped the furniture was sloping in line with the floors. Bed comfy amd bathroom was nice and clean. If you are after a quirky stay then this place is for you.”

“The place was wonderful. The only flaw was the difficulty I had finding the transportation they promised from the airport/train station, since there were no signs. I could see the place from outside, but I couldn't figure out how to safely walk there.”

“★★★★☆ The George Hotel has plenty going for it: welcoming staff, a generously sized room, thoughtful extra amenities and a wonderfully comfortable bed. The location is incredible, too. However, as many other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a quiet hotel. We were in a designated quiet room, with no events taking place during our stay, and could still hear just about everything happening around us. Four and a half ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the comfort, staff and fantastic location, but light sleepers...

“Of course the setting is the main attraction. The hotel is is a beautiful, grand, rural home, set by the lake, so its location and views are exceptional. The hotel is a bit quirky and creaky as you would expect but some areas are tired and not as clean as they could be, sadly. The staff were polite and efficent enough but not especially engaging. That said we didnt really need anything, so our interactions were limited”

“We had an amazing stay at the hotel! The room was beautiful and the food there was amazing!!”

“The room was gorgeous and Sue is the kindest person. Lots of attention to detail and the little things that make your stay special. One issue was low water pressure in the shower due to a temperamental electric device that runs the shower head.”
