I arrived after a very long day of stressful driving and was looking forward to relaxing at the property, however, as soon as I walked in the door I was hit with a terrible smell that made me nauseous. The floors were caked with a thick sticky film and all of the furniture was very worn and grubby.
The design is terrible. The head of the bed is positioned toward the exterior wall siding on the parking lot and there are two doors entering from the ground floor of either suite.
I am a single female and had experienced an attack earlier that day and didn’t feel safe with this situation.
This property is a glorified motel. All kinds of sounds and smells come from neighbors. It’s far from a relaxing riverside retreat as pictured online.
When I brought my concerns up with management they wanted to show me other rooms, but it’s a problem with the whole design of the facility. I also didn’t want to waste my vacation time when my nervous system was in need of a reset complaining and convincing management that my experience didn’t meet expectations. So I booked a room at Coast Hillcrest. What a difference! For a similar cost I had a third storey premium king room with private balcony overlooking the mountain valley, private hot tub, king bed, living room and it was clean, private, quiet. Completely the reset I needed.
When I reached out to discuss the possibility of a partial refund with Basecamp (It seemed fair due to the lack of quality) I was told I would need to pay full price
