Clean accommodation with a beautiful view of the cliffs. Good proximity to access all parts of the island. Not necessarily close to beach but still a good accommodation. Good communication from from host.

There is so much to do within walking distance from this house. The beach! Enchanting hiking trails! And two good restaurants. Again all walkable from the house. Plus this is a great place to start a visit to other places in the island.

Island of bliss

We had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect for going on excursions and if you prefer not to be out and about, the great beach is only a few minutes' walk away. We would love to come back.

Bien situé, belle vue sur la mer et nous entendions bien le bruits des vagues et la petite chute au bas de l'habitation, Endroit tranquille à proximité de tout, idéale pour la visite de l'île. Les lits (4) sont très confortables. Un lit queen, un double et 2 lits simples. Literie très propre. Cuisine bien équiper. Il manque seulement un pile patate pour les amateurs de patates pilées. Pas bien grave !

Peaceful Paridise

This property was everything as described in the VRBO ad and more. Location was quiet yet close to everything we needed and everything we wanted to see. The beach was spectacular, warm water and lots of space to spread out and enjoy the sunshine. Would definitely recommend this location and would stay here on our next trip to the Azores.

Very clean, full kitchen, deck with amazing view of ocean and waterfall. Walking distance to restaurant and beach. Location made it easy for us to explore the entire island! Host very responsive. We would definitely stay here again!

Though we would not go in March again because of the rainy/cloudy weather, we would give this place a big thumbs up for location, quietness, and view. Fairly priced, and central to several island highlights, we had a very comfortable stay.

We had a wonderful 10 day stay at Casa das Hortensias. The kitchen was fully equipped and the washing machine and outdoor space to hang out laundry provided everything we needed. We appreciated that supplies like olive oil, vinegar, a few spices, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, toilet paper and paper towels were provided. Spectacular hiking trails started steps from the house, and the views to the beach and ocean were beautiful. The living area and bedrooms were comfortable. Jose, our host, was responsive to any questions we had and the information binder was helpful. Thank you again for a lovely stay.

Lage der Unterkunft in Porto Formosa mit tollem Ausblick auf's Meer. Wir konnten zwar die tolle große Terrasse kaum nutzen, haben uns deshalb für den behaglichen Wohnraum gefreut. Nützlich war besonders der Kaminofen mit entsprechendem Holzvorrat.

Perfect Place

Such and amazing home and the location and views were better than we could have imagined. The hosts provided everything we could have needed and the tea and treats they left for us upon arrival were a lovely surprise. Perfect location to easily get to Furnas and Ribeira Grande. Beach cafe and restaurant within walking distance served delicious food. If we ever return we would stay here again!

Magical Spot

Casa das Hortensias is a wonderful and comfortable house located in a charming town, surrounded by beautiful Azores countryside. The two outside decks overlook a beautiful vista and black sand beach which is a 5 minute walk from the house. Hiking trails complete with waterfall is very close and accessible.

This lovely home is centrally located for exploring the island. The host communicated well. The house had every single thing we needed to stay comfortably. The view from two terraces was spectacular. We highly recommend this property.

A perfect holiday

We were allowed to spend a great week in the House. The Location of the house is perfect to explore the entire Island and close to a beautiful beach. The House is very well equipped and was very clean. Many thanks to the friedly landlord.

Great location!

Beautiful villa in Porto Formoso! Very clean and centrally located to many of Saõ Miguel attractions. José and the Martin family were splendid hosts - making everything so very easy for us. The island is small and very manageable. We were sad to leave this beautiful “House of Hydrangeas “.

This was one of the best homes we have stayed in. It lived up to every expectation. Very well provisioned…. down to coffee and espresso ready to enjoy. All the manuals for the appliances, and great suggestions for nearby restaurants and grocery shopping. Loved our morning views as we enjoyed brunch on the patio….. beds were comfy and two showers were a plus in getting ready for our family event.

Beautiful Place

We had the most amazing vacation in Sao Miguel. The hydrangeas were in full bloom during our stay and were absolutely stunning throughout the entire island. The house was so welcoming, comfortable and clean. Jose was very responsive to our requests and questions. The house had the most stunning views of the ocean, fully equipped with everything you will need, and is located within walking distance to the beach. It’s centrally located to visit every aspect of the island. We definitely recommend staying here!

This was an amazing rental. The house is quite large with 3 bedrooms and a bath upstairs and a large living are on the main level. It was very well equipped for dining in and everything was in working order. There is a beautiful large terrace facing the ocean where you can also relax and eat. The beach is only a 2 minute walk and the host even provided beach towels. The location is good but expect to do some traveling to the popular sight seeing areas. The island is small enough though to get around easily. We loved our stay at this beautiful home.

House by the sea

We loved the central location and balconies with the gorgeous views! During the day we would explore the island and then come back in the evening to hang out or walk to the beach. Park with waterfalls is also right around the corner. Owner was easy to reach and very responsive and flexible with check in.
