Close your eyes and imagine a private, poolside, coconut tree shaded-oasis on the beach. This is it. You are footsteps from snorkeling and kayaking from your cottage gate that opens to the sand and sea. Your delight is assured as Caribbean breezes grace your sunset viewing. A rare find!

Coconut Cottage is situated on a quaint, private, oceanfront property in a local neighborhood in Sandy Bay. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a family vacation, this peaceful, beachfront cottage is for you. Guests will have private access from your cottage gate for snorkeling and kayaking the pristine waters of the Caribbean Sea to enjoy the Mesoamerican Reef, the second largest reef in the world.

The cottage features reversed living accommodations with a queen-sized bed and private full bath downstairs utilizing beautifully appointed local materials and direct access to the walk-out deck to bask in the sunshine or take a dip in the refreshing plunge pool.

Upstairs features a fully equipped, full-size kitchen that invites you to cook and prepare all of your island foods with an unparalleled ocean view and deck with outdoor dining and gas BBQ. With a half bath upstairs, full sized washer and dryer and queen-sized pull-out sleeper, Coconut Cottage allows arrangements for your children or friends to join you in this unique getaway, vacation rental.

The cottage is fully equipped with linens, WiFi, ceiling fans, AC, and Smart TVs.

Rinse-off the salt water in the outside shower and enjoy the shade of the coconut trees and Caribbean breezes while lounging poolside. Adjacent to the plunge-pool is a casita featuring a full sized futon and powder room for additional flexibility with your accommodations.

The property is just 20 minutes from the airport and Coxen Hole and is fully gated.

The whole property is for the guests exclusive access. Snorkeling equipment and a kayak is provided, as well as a cooler, beach chairs and sand toys.

We loved this beach front house. The pool was the best feature! The ocean entry isn't very nice in this area so the pool was needed. We also used the kyaks daily.This house is in a neighborhhood and it is loud. Lots of traffic both on the road and on the beach, a barking dog from noon until 9:00 pm and someone has a parrot that yells mom, mom, mom all day long.The bed is very hard. Our hips were sore every morning. If you want to cook it will be difficult. there are like 3 pans and they are a cheap as they come and very warped so they don't sit flat on the stove top. The other issue is the couch. It is so worn out you can feel the cords in the cushions. There isn't a soft place to sit.We were there for a week and we really did enjoy the place but just a couple changes could really improve it.The big bonus was that we had 2 dogs come and they were so sweet. They hung around all week. We did feed and water them and gave kind words & pets.Not sure if we would stay again..

We loved our stay at The Coconut Cottage. Views were spectacular, weather was great and the cottage had a comfortable feel. Took the kayaks out multiple times and snorkeled out by the floating raft. Enjoyed walking for breakfast to Cafe 314 and Samona's Kitchen. Short drive to Ramirez grocery store and West End. My only small notes were that the shower head was in need of a deep clean as it had black gunk all over it. To our knowledge the pool/yard maintenance was not there all week as i noted a sand pile on the bottom of the pool that was present our whole stay. The lower ac unit had a small exterior vibration. None of these would prevent us from booking again. Highly recommended property.

The location of this cottage is in an area where crime has increased. If we would have known this, we wouldn’t have stayed here. The house was broken into with a crow bar while we were in our kayaks during the middle of the day and our things were stolen. Our car was in the driveway, front gate was locked. House was locked. It is clear someone was watching us. Stephanie, the property manager did everything she could by moving us to another area, working with the security company and contacting the owner. There are cameras on the home that were not operable and there is an alarm that guests don’t have access to. I don’t know if any of that would have detoured the burglar but I felt like the owner should have done something to make us whole. The only thing the owner agreed to do was reimburse us for 3 nights we didn’t stay there. The home itself is lovely, just located in a bad neighborhood.

Property is beautiful, house and pool are great. One downside is a kids marching band practiced on the beach aways down every weekday from 12-5. The same spng too. Kind of annoying. Not sure if there's a school or random practice. Not at all the homeowners fault. Just fyi.

2nd time staying here - perfect - few times a day I go out to the reef with the kayak which I tow behind me. There are always several dive boats right out front showing that this is the place to be. I love the privacy and quiet yet still with close access to West End and West Bay. The cooling pool is a plus - I wouldn’t stay anywhere else

Wonderful relaxing week!

We loved our time here! Sandy bay is the best. We very much dislike the crowds of west bay/end. Sandy bay is so calm and peaceful and you feel like you are integrating among the locals. The house was beautiful and perfect for us. We loved the pool, kayaks and sunsets on the beach! We drank coffee on the porch every morning and absolutely loved the greenery and privacy. The house was just perfect for us. We walked over to Sandy bay divers and had several great dives. I am already day dreaming about returning to this sweet little slice of paradise!

Amazing Home!

This property is outstanding. It is very clean, very comfortable and at least as good as advertised, if not better. The view is amazing and being right on the beach is incredible. West End is a short taxi ride away and there is a wonderful cafe in easy walking distance and most of the walk is along the beach! We stayed here for the first night of our vacation and took the ferry to Utila the next day, but when we come back to Roatan for future trips, we will definitely stay here again!

Perfect getaway

We enjoyed our stay at Coconut Cottage away from the resort crowds. Located in a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful beach for a walk. We enjoyed the pool. We also had a car so we could travel around the island as we like to get out and see other areas getting to know the people, food and culture of Roatan. We highly recommend this property for an pleasant time in Roatan.

Beautiful Property

The property was just as described. Beautiful beach cottage with very nice amenities. The interior and exterior were very well kept and maintained. The Caribbean Sea was steps away and the water was crystal clear. Was fun taking the on-site kayaks out. Having the pool to take a dip in was a bonus. The communication with the property manager was excellent. She was great to work with and always available to answer questions. If wanting to venture out for a meal or excursion, a rental vehicle or taxi will be required. We were put in contact with a taxi driver who was available to take us where we needed to go during our stay.

Coconut Cottage October 2024

The house is nice. It has a brand new full size washer/dryer. The view of the reef is spectacular. We enjoyed the pool. The bedroom downstairs stayed nice and cool with the a/c at night. We appreciated the extra water bottles and the water cooler. The shower was fine and the water pressure was good. The safe under the upstairs sink was inoperable as the key was completely twisted and bent. In order to fully enjoy the island, you will need a rental car. Obviously, we were being watched and our movements followed. I made the mistake of leaving a window unlocked and we were robbed. The neighborhood is not nice. They stole approximately $2000 worth of electronics (iPad, GoPro camera, Bose headphones, earbuds and Soundlink box). They stole my wife’s backpack altogether and went through mine and stole my fleece jacket but they left my backpack. Our passports were in my backpack so we were relieved. The refrigerator door was wide open when we returned home but they didn’t take my beer or rum. They didn’t take my expensive binoculars or my extra cash in a dresser drawer. We will never know how many times they entered the yard and tried to get in while we were away from the house because the “security” cameras do not have recording functionality. Up until this incident, we really enjoyed the island and Coconut Cottage. Now, I don’t think we would ever return.😡

We enjoyed our stay at the beach front cottage. The place looks just like the pictures. The ocean is great for looking at and you can go on long beach walks. The bed was confortable and we were thankful we had AC. We enjoyed the pool daily. Close to drive to west end and west bay. Kyaks were a nice extra activity. Be sure to have lots of bug spray. Lots of mosquitos and sand flies. We had some little issues but everything was taken care of promptly. Thanks for sharing your home!

Quaint Beach Cottage

We loved our stay at Coconut Cottage and would absolutely stay here again! The location is very quiet (minus some temporary road construction), lots of docks to snorkel off of and a reef that is booming with life, kayaks and pool were great amenities, and the house itself was perfect for a couple. Not too big but plenty of room to cook and relax in. Washer/dryer were really nice too. Most restaurants we went to were in the West End, about a 10 minute drive away, but we were looking for something off-the-beaten path so it worked very well for us. Thank you for the amazing stay!

Alright

The check in process was easy and we were able to contact the property manager via WhatsApp. She came to check in, in person the first evening and was lovely to chat to. Unfortunately she didn't know much about the property, kayaks, or beach/reef. It was easy to find the property and the fence provided security during our stay. The house was nice and clean, with plenty of towels and linens. Each floor had several fans and windows that open, plus an A/C unit we used occasionally. The smart TVs were great, and we used our usual streaming services. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had most items we needed (loved having a good blender, we enjoyed many Pina colada). The pool house was not needed during our stay but we rinsed off at the outdoor shower and enjoyed the pool floats we found inside. Unfortunately, there were a few things that disappointed us. The fridge took several days to chill the few beers and ingredients we brought along. There were no ice cube trays so we had to go shopping for trays or cubes. The kitchen faucet had very minimal water pressure which made cleaning up after meals frustrating. We were assured that there was a 5 gallon jug of drinking water at the house ready for us but it was near empty on arrival (luckily we had bought our own before arriving). The pool was quite sandy. The kayaks were not safe to use, as the drainage holes someone added caused us to almost sink. The beach was unfortunately littered and not nice for swimming.
