The palace was built between 1480 and 1520 in the period in which it stood the "Fabbrica di San Pietro" (St. Peter's Factory). Pope Sisto V reclaimed the area, which was at the time on the embankment of the Tiber, to build houses in which accomodate architects and craftsmen who worked at the Fabbrica di San Pietro. The place was strategic because it is well connected by Ponte Sant'Angelo from which the district takes the name "Ponte", and also stood near the river port of Tor Millina where the materials for the construction of the Basilica arrived. In the period in which our building was built, the marbles of ancient Roman monuments were recovered for the construction, in fact in our cloister you can see two columns and architraves coming from an amphitheater that stood nearby. In our ward they lived among the most famous, Borromini, Maderno and Benvenuto Cellini. The zone is very lively full of bar, bistrot and restaurants.
