MONTI A tour of Rome cannot ignore an exploration of the Monti district, one of the most picturesque in the city. In this area, as old as the capital itself, rich patricians and the plebs once coexisted, occupying the Suburra, today the most characteristic area of the neighborhood. Despite the urban development of the nineteenth century and the urban changes of the fascist era, the Monti district has only partially lost its original layout. A maze of narrow cobblestone streets hosts, in addition to numerous restaurants, also historic buildings, vintage shops and artisan workshops. From various corners of the district, it is possible to admire romantic and particularly evocative views that immerse the visitor in a nostalgic retro atmosphere. The Monti district is a place to live but also to admire: important archaeological remains and treasures of sacred architecture are preserved here.
No car needed (using private cars is not recommended due to lack of parking). With a small walk you can reach the bars and shops of "Monti" district (5 min) or city center (10 min) With 2 minutes' walk you can reach public transport: Metro "B" Cavour (to Termini or Tiburtina Train Station), or bus 75 and 117. From Termini Train Station (you can go there by walking or with Metro B Cavour) you can reach "Metro A" to "Ottaviano" to reach Vatican Museum.
