Informazioni su questa struttura

Boutique lodge with a terrace at the foot of the mountain

  • This beautiful ground-floor apartment, with views of the mountains and the garden, is part of Las Casas del Agua—six intimate retreats surrounded by nature, where silence reigns and birdsong fills the air. Just a few minutes from downtown San Cristóbal, yet offering all the peace, privacy, and comfort you need to relax. Luxury kitchen, high-end mattress, stable fiber-optic internet, rooftop garden with a grill, yoga mat, exercise equipment, and a hammock for resting.

    The space
Welcome to this oasis of peace.

Casa Mar is much more than just a place to sleep. It’s that corner of the world where time seems to slow down, where you can take a deep breath, find inspiration, reconnect with yourself, or simply enjoy being here. Also ideal for digital nomads, this space is designed for those who need a balance between productivity, rest, and natural beauty. Here, nestled in the mountains, you’ll experience the flavor of local life in San Cristóbal de las Casas, in an intimate, authentic, and welcoming atmosphere.

The apartment is perfect for two people, with a king-size bed—featuring a high-end, resort-style mattress—but if you’re traveling with someone else, there’s also a comfortable sofa in the living room for a third person. What captivates you the moment you walk in is the view of the garden and the mountains, which changes as the light shifts throughout the day. Thanks to its prime location, you can watch the sunrise with a cup of Chiapas coffee in hand, and later, end the day with an unforgettable sunset.

The house is very bright and cozy, and every detail has been carefully attended to. If you want to work, you’ll have high-speed, very reliable fiber-optic internet—perfect for video calls, working from home, creative writing, or even watching your favorite show on Netflix. If you need to get moving, on the rooftop garden you can do your workout with yoga mats and weights, read in the hammock, or grill up something delicious while the sky lights up with color. And if you just want to relax and gaze at the starry sky in silence, that’s perfect too. Anything goes here.

Plus, just a few minutes’ walk away, you’ll find grocery stores and fresh fruit and vegetables. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can enjoy cooking at your own pace—or order something delicious for delivery when you don’t feel like lifting a finger. If you go out to explore, you can hike the nearby trails, visit the natural parks surrounded by greenery, or check out—just a few minutes’ walk away—the restaurant tucked away in the middle of the forest, where having breakfast or lunch surrounded by trees is part of the charm.

And something very important: the area is very safe and quiet, ideal for solo travelers as well. In fact, we regularly welcome solo travelers who tell us how comfortable and safe they feel here. Although it’s not necessary, the gated community has private security and a guardhouse.

Since we believe in mindful care, we use eco-friendly cleaning products, and the complimentary items—shampoo, conditioner, and soap—are organic and made by local producers. We want you to feel good, inside and out.

Before your arrival, I’ll send you an interactive guide that I put together with a lot of love, where I share my favorite spots: secret alleys, museums, markets, nature trails, and truly delicious restaurants (no tourist traps).

It will be a pleasure to welcome you, accompany you if you need it, and make sure your stay at Casa Mar is not only comfortable but unforgettable.

P.S.: Don’t forget to pack your slippers—you’ll really enjoy wearing them at home.

    Guest access
During your stay, you’ll be able to enjoy two outdoor spaces designed for your comfort and relaxation: the main garden and the rooftop garden. These two areas are shared with other guests, but they’re almost always free since most people are working from home or out and about.

In the rooftop garden, you’ll find a hammock, yoga equipment, weights, a few books, and a grill with all the necessary utensils in case you feel like cooking something outdoors while watching the sunset or the starry sky.

In the main garden, there’s a table with a parasol—perfect for breakfast, reading, or simply relaxing surrounded by nature.

There’s also a parking area with an electric gate, ensuring your arrival and departure are convenient and secure.

These spaces are available to you throughout your stay. If you need anything else, we’d be happy to help.

    Other things to note
Everything is designed to ensure your comfort so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

If there are days when you don’t feel like cooking, don’t worry: you can easily order anything from pizza to local cuisine for delivery. There are several delicious and quick options that are delivered right to your door.

If you don’t have a car, don’t worry! We regularly host guests without cars, as there are several ways to get to and from downtown: You can order a taxi to pick you up right at your doorstep ($80 Mexican pesos) and drop you off in downtown in about 8 minutes. You can also take the colectivo or combi for $10 Mexican pesos, or rent a scooter if you’d like.

In addition, we work with two trusted drivers who can pick you up at the airport and bring you directly here. Just let us know, and we’ll be happy to help you arrange it. The cost of the service (whether it’s an airport taxi or private transportation) is $1,200 Mexican pesos, payable directly in cash to the driver. The trip takes about an hour, depending on traffic.

The cleaning service is included when you arrive and when you leave as well. However, if you’d like a full cleaning service on any other day, Vic would be happy to do it; I’d just ask that you pay him directly $250 Mexican pesos, please :)

As for the heater, it runs on a gas tank. Your reservation includes a full new tank (plus whatever gas is left in the tank in use at the time of your arrival), so you can use it whenever you like. If you need an additional tank during your stay, the cost is $250 Mexican pesos, payable at that time.

If you’d like to use the grill, we recommend stopping by Oxxo for a bag of charcoal. We provide all the utensils you’ll need to cook on it.
