Nothing immediately local but frequent local buses which run til 8.30/9pm back take you to Sandakan centre (RMS .70) where you can get good selection of foods and drinks. Lots of shopping malls. Sepilok(Orangutans and Honeybears) Labuk(Proboscis monkeys) Australian war memorial and Heritage trail were good. Only waste of time and money was Gomantong Bat caves. 4hrs from Sandakan, my camera could not get anything due to it's great size and darkness. Maybe nighttime...

“Hotel is old and not much maintained. Need to climb stairs to get hot water. Written non smoking room but with ash tray to encourage people smoking in room and room with smoking smell from people smoking outside of the room. Anyway location is good and price is cheap.”

The shower and sink use a pump system which was not smooth at all and you either had a ‘power’ shower or a trickle.
