Other things to note:
Property Upkeep and Maintenance:
Your hosts, Anne and Quincey, live in a house on the other side of the property as caretakers. We are here for immediate response to any questions or concerns but our guests have full privacy and need not ever see us. We will take care of pool cleaning, general maintenance, property upkeep and any repairs you may need, beach cleaning and daily trash removal.
Getting Around:
A car is helpful in Santa Clara if you plan to get out and explore all there is to see and do.
Dining:
There are several restaurants within walking distance here in Santa Clara and others in the two towns 10-15 minutes away by car serving fresh seafood for lunch and dinner. Restaurants in Santa Clara are usually open from noon to 6:00 pm while the nearby towns offer more options into the evening.
There is a local lady here in town, Dona Chalita, who prepares salbutes, panuchos, empanadas, ceviches with delivery to the property.
Cooking services can also be arranged; we have a mother-daughter team who prepare traditional Yucatecan dishes for our guests. Guests select from 1 to 3 meals daily and what they would like to eat.
Spending Money:
We suggest you plan to bring mexican pesos. Credit cards and foreign currencies are not typically accepted by service providers and shops in the smaller towns along the coast. (Note: the grocery stores such as Super Willys, Dunosusa, Bodega Aurrera, La Mexicana) and the gas stations in the nearby towns may accept credit cards, provided their wifi is working. There are ATMs in the nearby towns where you can withdraw pesos using international debit or credit cards.
Shopping:
We recommend shopping for groceries in Merida before you head out to the beach for the best selection and to purchase any specialty items or alcoholic beverages. The nearby towns do have mercados and little shops with fresh vegetables, fruit and meats and grocery stores so you can also pick up the basics locally but you will find the selection to be much better in Merida. There are now 2 beer stores in Santa Clara where you can purchase beer, sodas, bottled waters, chips etc.
Things to Do and See:
We will share our list of recommendations for things to see and do with you to help with your planning. We are also happy to organize tours with our recommended providers for you. Most of our providers speak both Spanish and English. Let us know how we can help make your vacation truly incredible!
