Our long time go-to home in Santa Fe
This Beautiful secluded home in the quaint historic east side on a hill above Canyon Road, it has lovely furnishings, accessories, and original art. We and our friends have stayed here several times. Overall, the place is clean, with the exception of finding lots of dead bugs around the exterior doors and window sills, which we had to remove. The home was obviously cleaned, but probably not recently checked before our arrival. Each time that we have stayed in this home, we wanted to use the outdoor gas fire pit on the beautiful private patio, but have been disappointed every time that it was not working. We trust that the owner will attend to our suggestions, as we always look forward to making Casa Viga Grande our place to stay on our next trip to Santa Fe.

Thank you for a lovely stay!
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Casa Viga after the VRBO we originally booked had an issue that left it inhabitable. After all the stress, it was great to stay in a comfortable and worry free environment. Location is close to all that Santa Fe has to offer and we spent a few cozy nights in front of the fireplace. Richard went the extra mile and was able to move up our check in time due to our situation. Would definitely stay here again in warmer weather to enjoy the fire pit and outdoor areas. Thank you - it was a great place to ring in the new year!

Sisters week long stay
The house was very comfortable to settle into. We could spread out or be together. Easy to use tv, kitchen appliances, showers. Well equipped. Great location, we did not enjoy the spacious outdoor settings as we went to several places in the area where we checked out the lovely New Mexico landscape, like Jemez Springs and Ghost Ranch.

Charming home, just blocks from Canyon Road
Our group of two couples truly enjoyed our stay at this historic property, situated between Canyon Road and Museum Hill. The home was beautifully decorated, updated and well equipped with things like a six burner Wolf range, beautiful riginal artwork and lighting. We enjoyed the small seating area outside, with BBQ, firepit, and the like. We highly recommend it.

Lovely and peaceful house
Beautiful house that's perfect for two couples. House has everything you need and we especially appreciated the outside sitting areas. Close to the Canyon Rd. galleries, but some steep hills on the walk, so we didn't walk as much as planned with the heat of August. Would definitely recommend highly to others!

An idyllic stay at Casa Contemporary
Overall very good, with excellent communication with the property manager. The only areas that need improvement are (1) the laundry area has a persistent moldy smell, also the gaskets need to be replaced on the washer and dryer. (2) brighter light in the living and dining room would make playing games much easier, and it is needed above the master bathroom sink as well.

Amazing house; make sure you have 4 wheel drive or snow chains
Everything about this property was incredible! However, it snowed 3 inches while we were there and the temperature did not rise above freezing until 36 hours later, so we were stuck in the house because the hill to get to the main road was completely iced over and we did not have chains or 4 wheel drive. I had to walk half a mile to uber to Autozone to get snow chains just so we could leave the property. So like i said, amazing property, just be prepared if it snows and doesn't melt.

Cozy, beautiful Santa Fe home
We really enjoyed our experience here. It is near Canyon Road, off of the beaten path in an adorable neighborhood which we loved. The decor was gorgeous, the kitchen well-appointed with top-notch appliances. The traditional fireplace was a highlight for us, kept the house warm and inviting. The primary suite has 2 closets, and the en-suite bathroom is large with double sinks. The second bedroom was much smaller with a single closet and small adjoining bathroom with a shower. The king bed, instead of being in the primary suite, was in the small second bedroom. The large primary suite had a queen sized bed. The bigger bed would fit better in the bigger room and would have been preferable sleeping for 2 people. Overall, fantastic house and we would love to book it again in the future!

Amazing Santa Fe house
Perfect location, plenty of room to work from the big table, relax in the family room, and comfy beds for a good night's sleep. We walked everywhere-for coffee at Downtown Subscription, shopping on Canyon Road, and restaurants on the Plaza. We will return! This is our favorite place to stay in Santa Fe!

The subtle, collectible artwork and architecture alone were worth staying here. We should have booked a couple of days before AND after our working days stay just for our own personal enjoyment. We will know next time! SO COMFORTABLE from beds to thoughtful lighting to expansive imaginative layout, jacuzzi tub and FOUR, (count them!) 4, outdoor visiting gathering seating "patio" areas. Uncrowded, uncluttered, clean, inviting...nay, embracing. We picked the place by the hosts and will do so again. Gratefully, R. & S.

Beautiful Property Noisy Ceiling
My wife and I absolutely loved this beautiful house (during the daytime). It was well stocked, clean, and comfortable. The furniture was in good condition. The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms were also very clean and in excellent condition. When it was time to sleep however the house became much less welcoming. Between approximately 9:00 pm and 3:00 am the tongue and groove ceiling, over the bed in the master bedroom, creeks and occasionally BANGS (like someone striking the ceiling once with a hammer). This was very alarming and disturbing. It persisted each night of our 6 night stay – and happened roughly 3 – 5 times each night. It did happen in other parts of the house – but primarily in the master bedroom (right over the bed). Each night we got out of bed, at least once, and sat in the front room discussing the matter. A vacation without sleep is not pleasant. We never slept more than 4 hours in any given night. Some nights we slept less – and after the first couple of nights I felt uneasy even walking into that bedroom. It is a wonderful house. Richard, one of the property owners, was very helpful and pleasant to work with. But with a house that we could not sleep in, an outdoor gas fire pit that was broken, outdoor furniture that we had to clean, and old dog poop in the flower beds – I cannot recommend this house for anything but daytime functions.

Dear Glenn, Firstly, we were very surprised with your 2 star review as we have 95 five-star reviews for Casa Viga Grande. So, it is clear that you are quite the exception. We do mention in our listing that the fire pit is problematic and its on a best efforts basis to have it working. The igniter fails and we have ordered a new one, as I mentioned to you. You did not indicate to me that it was essential for you to enjoy your stay. That being said, I don't believe that the failure of the fire pit warrants your rating. It would have been a good idea for you to have contacted us regarding the noise that you heard during the evening. It is not from creaking vigas (they are 15" in diameter, rather it is from raccoons that live in the area and they sometimes romp around the roof. There is nothing we can do about them short of attempting to kill them - which is illegal in Santa Fe. Actually, no guest has ever mentioned the noise as a problem as you can see from the over 95 reviews of the home. Therefore, it must be from your heightened sensitivity. The outdoor furniture is wiped down after each guest however, as you know, Casa Viga Grande is near a dirt road and dust does blow around with the winds. Again, no guest has ever found the outdoor areas wanting. But, more importantly, you should have phoned us upon the first instance of a problem and let us know about the noise. We would have moved you to another home. I am disappointed in your communication with us during your stay. All the best, Richard

Cute home in a unique and walkable neighborhood
We loved our stay at this home. It was perfect for our family of four and had all of the amenities needed to ensure we were comfortable. We all enjoyed the backyard between grilling and the fire pit. We walked several times to the park and to the restaurants and shops as well and enjoyed the uniqueness of our surroundings. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Wonderful place in Santa Fe-- very quiet and comfortable
The place was wonderful. Very comfortable, very well equipped and very quiet. Everything was spotless throughout. All furnishing and appliances were high end and well maintained. We didn't use any of the outside features, but everything inside was perfect including great internet service. Communication with the owner was quick and very helpful. Loved it and this will be our go-to place in the future.

Thanksgiving stay
Stayed here for a long Thanksgiving weekend. The house was in a very quiet neighborhood and was perfect for what we needed. The kitchen was very well stocked with equipment, had enough to make anything we wanted. Richard, one of the property managers, was incredibly attentive and communicative. We had trouble getting Internet for a bit and he even came over on Thanksgiving day to make sure the problem is solved. I would stay here again and would recommend it for a quiet getaway.

Our second visit to Casa Viga Grande. This charming spot is tucked at the end of a narrow , dead-end lane on the historic Eastside/Canyon Road area.. It’s perfect for 1 or 2 couples. The kitchen is large, updated with higher end appliances, and well stocked. We weren’t able to take advantage of multiple outdoor seating areas as the weather was a bit cold., but they would be enjoyable the rest of the year. If you aren’t familiar with all the one-way streets on the Eastside, Siri can easily guide you.

Beyond Perfect!
Absolutely beautiful and well appointed home. Very clean, tons of amenities, many extras. Loved all the little things like nightlights and extra hooks for wet towels. Also appreciated a beautiful kitchen with tons of stock as well as the outdoor seating area and fire pit. Would not only love to stay here again but would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Santa Fe!

Lovely Home in Historic Area Near Canyon Road
This was the second time we have stayed at Casa Viga Grande and were happy to see that the property has been kept in perfect condition since our last stay. Furnishings, accessories, and artwork are authentic and local. The kitchen is well appointed, including a beautiful Wolf range/oven. Absolutely no need to go out to eat unless you want to enjoy the fabulous restaurants that Santa Fe has to offer! The home is secluded on a narrow road just above Canyon Road in a charming historic neighborhood. Walking to Canyon Road is quick and downhill, but the return trip uphill might be challenging for those who don't walk regularly. We have stayed in numerous hotels, condos, and private homes in Santa Fe over the past 40 years, and this is our favorite!

Very nice house in Old Santa Fe
The property is very well maintained and stocked with the basics (better than most VRBO's we have rented). The only thing they lacked was proper maintenance of lights under the kitchen counter (less than half were working). Being the first time in the old part of Santa Fe, we were surprised at how narrow many of the streets are (and dirt roads as well). A couple of times we had to stop, back up, and even pull into someone else's driveway to let someone pass in the other direction. That's pretty annoying, particularly if you're driving a big car. We are hikers, so not a problem for us walking up the dirt road hill when walking from the house, but many renters probably only drive to downtown (just a little over a mile from the house). All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the nice clean and VERY quiet house.

Hi Bob, Thanks again for staying with us. I do want to point out that only half the kitchen counter lights go on with the wall switch. The remainder of the counter lights are actually turned on at each light - there are individual switches. I am sorry that you missed them and I wish you had given us a call. I know its not intuitive but no one has mentioned it before. Yes, Casa Viga Grande is located in a very historic part of Santa Fe just off of Canyon Road. The streets are unpaved and probably never will be as this preserves the authentic character of the neighborhood. There are so many eclectic areas of Santa Fe and thus why we are 'The City Different'. Thank you again and all the best, Richard

Historic location serene setting
We love the quite neighborhood. We walk each morning from casa viga grande and enjoy coffee We love the quiet location a few minutes away from morning coffee at downtown subscription or world class art at museum hill within a few minutes drive. We love relaxing on the outdoor patio or in the comfortable living room after dinner. We have stayed here over the years and the quality has always been top notch. We plan on coming again soon. A Perfect House in a Perfect Loacation
Review of 502 ½ Camino Sin Nombre June 15-Aug. 3, 2019 This is one of the best rentals we have stayed in. The house was immaculate when we arrived. It is very nicely decorated. All of the light switches were labeled (there are a lot). Each room is individually air conditioned. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils, pot and pans. Living room furniture is comfortable. The house is very private with great parking. The beds are comfortable and the master bath is fantastic. We had three sets of guests (couples) over our 7 week stay and it was very comfortable for 4 of us. All the guests enjoyed and appreciated this house. The house is ideally located. We did a 15 minute walk to breakfast at the Tea House on Canyon often. You can walk to Museum Hill in about the same time. The square is about 30 minutes. Now for the “but”. The outdoor furniture consists of two wooden chairs without cushions and two rickety benches. There is a wooden “picnic” table for outdoor meals. There is no umbrella and it does get warm. When we mentioned this to the manager, she said she had talked to the owner and that they would work on this issue. However, this is not a dealbreaker. The quality of the house more than makes up for the lack of it in the outdoor furniture. After looking at the pictures on the website, we brought cushions from home and bought two folding chairs. This helped a lot.

Lovely oasis
Our weeklong stay at this immaculate and comfortable property was very special. The location is charming and very accessible to Canyon Road’s galleries as well as upper Canyon for enjoying walks in nature. We had a little trouble working the television one night and Richard came right over to help us get things working.. The beds were super comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed although we ended up dining out most nights . It is indeed a gem of an oasis which we would recommend to anyone visiting Santa Fe.9

Just Lovely!
Casa Viga Grande, is beautiful! Classic Adobe style, but very contemporary, updated kitchen and bathrooms. Comfortable for 3 adults and 1 kid for 4 nights - a great location to go exploring from. It is very private and quiet with a lovely outside area for grilling and sitting by the firepit.The front driveway is beautiful, and we had no problem parking our mid-sized SUV. The streets outside are winding, narrow and unpaved, so walkability depends on your mobility. My husband who walks with canes would not be able to walk the streets around this area. However, if you are young and agile, it could be a really fun adventure to walk around, as the houses are so very interesting along these streets. Whether you walk or ride, it is a minute or two from EVERYTHING. Great location. My husband's favorite find while grocery shopping at the nearest Whole Foods Store - Whole Foods has a bar!!!! That's right, after a tough grocery shopping session, you can sip on a beer or a glass of wine. Very civilized, indeed! Richard is a wonderful host, responding to needs quickly, but I didn't see him at all during our stay! He is very thoughtful, and caring. We had made a reservation with him in 2018, and shortly before our departure, my husband fell and broke his hip. I fully expected I would hear something like, "Oh, I am so sorry, but we cannot accomodate a date switch." This was not so! Richard responded with sympathy for our accident, and worked with me to to find 4 days in 2019 where we could use our reservation. He was honorable and kind. You don't find those qualities often these days. I recommend Casa Viga Grande wholeheartedly, as I recommend Richard has your host at any of his properties. I am sure you will have a similar experience. Thank you, Richard!

Comfortable and quiet
This casita is beautiful, well appointed, comfortable and quiet. It's a nice walk to downtown through historic neighborhoods. I would recommend it to anyone interested in neighborhood stays. While it doesn't have some of the spectacular views Santa Fe is known for, it isn't far to vistas which afford those.

The adobe is in a quiet neighborhood with good room for parking
We enjoyed our stay at the adobe. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient for skiing and sightseeing. The kitchen is nicely done and well equipped. The radiant heat kept us toasty, The alarm was going off upon our arrival and Richard the manager came quickly and resolved the issue. We did wish there was more ample seating in the living area and that the bedrooms had TVs in them as well. Also, we had to battle ants and beetles during the entire stay, which was frustrating with small children who were very upset by the bugs.

Hi Jennifer, Thanks so much for your review and for letting us know about the sugar ants. We have contracted a treatment program with a professional firm so this problem will not be a concern any further. That being said, Santa Fe does have pests during certain times of the year given our climate. Thanks again for staying with us and all the best, Richard
