A handsome villa with beautiful walled gardens and heatable pool near the sandy beach of Sampieri.

Just a few minutes’ drive from beautiful baroque Scicli and a string of superb sandy beaches, Villa Farli is a bougainvillaea-strewn manor house with lots of space for everyone. Extensive lawns and terraces provide a fitting backdrop to the inviting heatable pool, where you may enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the property's most secluded setting.

Inside: accommodation at Villa Farli is divided between the original manor house, a large guesthouse and three guesthouses in the grounds.

The main house is on two levels and may be accessed from a several entrances. Most of the ground floor is given over to a large, open-plan and elegantly furnished living and dining space with three distinct areas: one has a fireplace, sofas and armchairs, the second is home to the dining table, while the third hosts another sitting area with television. A series of glass doors lead out into the gardens.

Just off the living area is a guest bathroom and a very large, extremely stylish and professionally equipped kitchen with another large dining table and easy access to the al fresco dining areas.

A spiral staircase takes one up to the first floor, where there are the three double bedrooms. Two have en-suite shower rooms (one up a few steps) and access to a shared, bougainvillea and jasmine-strewn balcony, while the third has an adjacent bathroom with sunken bath and its own private terrace. The main house may also be accessed via a side door that leads directly to the first floor.

About 10m to one side of the main house is the large guesthouse comprising an open-plan living and dining area and kitchen, four double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, and a wellness room with sauna and hydromassage shower. Three of the bedrooms in the guesthouse may become twins with the addition of a single bed.

Accommodation is completed by three independently accessed guesthouses, each with its own bedroom (one double and two double-twins) and en-suite shower room. These are smaller and less luxurious than the other bedrooms, but comfortably furnished and welcoming.

Outside: Villa Farli is set in a large expanse of beautifully-kept walled garden featuring large expanses of lawn, and a wide variety of fragrant and colourful Mediterranean flowers, plants and trees. In one corner of the garden is a magnificent heatable pool with a large, stylishly furnished shaded area.

Immediately in front of and behind the house are several shaded terrace areas that are ideal for outside dining, aperitifs or an afternoon snooze.

The discreet and helpful owners may stay in the adjoining property and will not disturb in any way, unless of course you need local advice.

Cats may be seen in the villa grounds. However, they will not enter the house unless encouraged to do so.
Guests staying at Villa Farli are spoilt for sandy beaches and shallow turquoise waters. Just a five-minute drive away is the 1.7km-long beach of Sampieri, one of the loveliest in the southeast of Sicily. Also nearby, within a 10 to 30-minute drive are the beaches of Cava d'Aliga, Marina di Modica, Donnalucata and Marina di Ragusa, all of which have lidos, restaurants and water sports facilities. The beaches in the area of Marina di Ragusa have received several consecutive "Bandiere Blu", attesting to the cleanliness of the water and their general ecological excellence.

In terms of culture and history, Villa Farli is extremely well positioned, just outside the delightful town of Scicli and close to the other baroque pearls of the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Modica, Ragusa and Noto.

Scicli itself has a good range of restaurants, shops, bars, cafés and gelaterie, and its delightful old town centre is one of major locations used in the Inspector Montalbano TV series.

Slightly further afield, yet also within easy driving distance, is the multi-millennial town of Syracuse and the unspoilt beaches of coastal scenery of Vendicari Nature Reserve.
