We had a very disappointing experience with this stay. Prior to our reservation, I reached out due to a family medical emergency (my partner’s father being hospitalized) to ask about cancellation or alternative options, but never received a response.Leading up to check-in, the host was messaging to ask what time we would arrive, which made it confusing that when we got there around 4 PM, we had no way to access the property and again received no response.After waiting and trying to reach the host, he eventually came out of the garage, which was unexpected. It was also not disclosed that someone was living in the home, and we were expecting a private stay. This made us feel uncomfortable and unable to relax or feel secure staying overnight.We ultimately decided to leave and drove home that same night. After we got home, the host messaged saying he could have left for the night to stay with family. Unfortunately, this was not communicated beforehand when it would have made a difference.Due to the lack of communication, unclear check-in process, and undisclosed shared living situation, we were unable to stay. I would strongly recommend clearer communication and full transparency in the listing for future guests.
