Though, like many of the newer Sri Lankan hotels, Amora Lagoon is a nice facility (nice decorations, modern architecture), the recent Easter attacks have hit the Sri Lankan tourist industry quite hard. I was maybe 1 of 3 guests in the entire hotel. This meant the mini bar was empty, they weren't serving off the room service menu (you had to go to the dining room and order and then they'd bring it to your room) and the facility didn't appear to have been maintained as it should have.
There were scribble marks on the wall, splashes of God knows what, and the "complimentary" coffee and tea bags in the room were splattered with a black substance which made me loathe to drink it. Even after my room was cleaned the second day, fresh bottles of water weren't put out, nor did the cleaning staff replace the tea/coffee with clean, fresh supplies.
My sense is that in a typical tourist season, the hotel would be better. But overall, my stay was average at best.
