Overall, this hotel is far below the standards we expect from Sandman Hotels in Canada.
During our stay, we experienced multiple issues. Each night, the central heating shut down in the middle of the night. The room did not have a hair dryer, there was insufficient coffee provided for the length of our stay, and there was no daily room cleaning service.
The pool facilities were cold, outdated, overcrowded, and poorly maintained. The water was not clear, and there appeared to be no enforcement of basic health and safety standards. We observed babies in the pool wearing regular nappies instead of swimming nappies, and guests wearing full-day clothing in both the pool and the sauna. No staff were present to monitor or manage the area.
Additionally, at around 3:00 a.m. one night, a large group of cars gathered in front of the hotel, honking continuously and setting off fireworks for over 10 minutes. The situation escalated into what felt like a riot until the police eventually arrived.
We would not recommend this hotel. The brand name "Sandman" does not reflect the actual quality or experience of this property.
