What a gem! If you're looking for a serene, relaxing, beautiful place to decompress with family and friends, look no further. This lovely 3-bedroom house on the water is all that and more. We can't say enough about the location, just minutes from Shelter Island's South Ferry overlooking a picturesque cove and a quick stroll from a private beach (great for shell and rock collectors).
The house was recently remodeled, and the bedrooms, bathrooms, and living room are sleek and modern and very comfortable. The owner told us the kitchen remodel is in the works, although it's certainly usable as is (even with older appliances). I can't say enough about the quality of the bathrooms -- we loved the rain showers and the generous tub, which our two toddlers loved bathing in. Beds were luxurious and great; no lumpy mattresses here!
If you have young children, the house is particularly well equipped with toys, a high chair, baby gates, and a travel crib. Our kids loved playing out on the deck all day, and we felt totally safe to let them do so. We barely turned on the flat-screen TV because we were having so much fun outdoors -- beach-hopping, grilling, kayaking in the home's kayak, exploring the island's farms and historical sites, and just generally basking in the beauty of the region. We'll never forget the 10 days we spent here this summer. Can't wait to come back.
