“My wife and I wanted to “slow travel” for a few days and found this place on VRBO. It’s a 100-yr old traditional coastal home. It is directly across the road (there is a convenient tunnel under the road) from Zaimokuza and Yuigahama beaches and there is a bus stop right outside the door for a 15 min ride to/from Kamakura Station. The #40 bus is reliable and easy. Don’t bother with a taxi. It is also a 15-min walk to the Enoden train, which follows the coastline and goes to Hase and Enoshima...

“For the price, the room was larger than expected (for a Japanese business hotel), and the front desk service was excellent. They had nice small touches as the ability to extend checkout for up to 3 additional hours for about $7 per hour. This made the transfer to the airport a LOT easier. ”

“Akitaya is always a great stay. I’ve stayed here both times I’ve been to Kamakura and I plan to stay here again when I return! The rooms are a traditional Japanese style which I think everyone should experience! The hotel is conveniently placed next to Koshigoe station which makes it really easy to get around. They even give you free tea in the room! The staff are always super friendly and even did my laundry for me. I definitely recommend this place!”

“Das Zimmer war sauber und schön. Man konnte das lokale Onsen mitbenutzen (ca. 100-200m entfernt) mit Pool und Onsen Part. Unglaublich toll um bei der Reise zu entspannen, Yukata und Handtücher werden gestellt. Aber auch das Zimmerbad war modern und schön!”
