My visit to Shrewsbury was a magical experience and Morgan's The Exchange was a key part of what made it so memorable. It's an easy walk (past the castle!) from the train station, and the minute I saw it, I couldn't believe my luck. This is no sterile box; you feel you've become part of Shrewsbury and when I saw my room I wished I could stay longer than my two days. I propped myself on my elbows on the wide sill of my open window and just watched the town, munching a complimentary biscuit and already feeling at home. The room itself was high-ceilinged, airy, and immaculately clean. There was an armoire for my clothes, stocked with an iron, a hair dryer, and plenty of hangers. The bathroom had a huge shower stall and big fluffy white towels. The shower itself boasted plenty of water pressure and good hot water, no tepid trickle here. The bed was tall, clean, and very comfortable. The sheaf of menus lured me back downstairs, although I was so charmed by my room I was tempted to hang out there a while. The drinks menu has everything from lattes and cokes to Glenlivet and exotic cocktails. The food menu had plenty of choices, and as I soon discovered, the food is GOOD. You can sit at the window tables or outside and people watch, cozy up to the little bar, or kick back and watch TV. Morgan's becomes a home. Don't miss it.
