Renter was problem before they arrived. They could not find the place. Then they could not find the entry into the house. Then they could not figure out how to operate the key. Then they claimed hot water not available when they probably turned off the hot water circuit breaker in basement upon arriving (some renters to this). Our maid service called us when they left to say that the stench from marijuana smoke in the house was awful. They had to open all window, run all fans and spray air freshener to help alleviate the smell. In addition a very unique wooden bowel was burned. We would never rent to them again. Inadvertently people who start complaining with not finding the house usually are the ones with all the complaints.

We have been renting our house for almost 25 years through VRBO and predecessor companies. Once about every 10 years we get a renter like this who is just difficult to deal with. This renter from the start did not obviously read the instructions and directions. He was constantly calling trying to find the place. I guided him in via phone best I could. Once he got there, he called the house a green house when it is brown. Then he claimed he could not get into the house when it was clear he could not follow instructions and line up the numbers on lock system. When he entered house he claimed it was humid. I told him to turn on all the air conditioners. I left him note about hot tub being hit by lightening and parts on order. The instructions to all renters include a note of $25/night refund if hot tub is not working. That was immediatley refunded the day they left. Parts are difficult to get but we finally have the part and ready to install hot tub and have it fully working this coming week. The dryer works. He just did not turn it on. Instead he leafed through all past notes under other notes to find an old crumpled note that said dryer did not work. We always leave condiments in fridge for folks to use.; none are old or spoiled. Mattress covers are bleached regularly and it is difficult to get the last remnant of stain out. We hardly ever get calls from renters unless there is something terribly wrong. Nothing was wrong. The place had just gone through a deep clean and everything was working with exception of hot tub. This renter called/texted about 10 times before I simply blocked his calls. It helps to read all the instructions and guidlelines before arrival. This renter will not be allowed to return. We have too many repeat folks from over 25 years to worry about this kind of renter. NO where in the instructions does it say for renter to turn off the hot water and expect it to work. This renter turned OFF the hot water circuit upon arrival for NO reason. And then blames owner. I don't recommend this renter to anyone.
