Charming 3/2 Cottage- Close to beach & Historic Downtown

Cottage on May – Newly listed!

Enjoy this historic 1935 home which has been recently renovated with brand new amenities.

Location – Location – Location. The Cottage on May is only 1.6 miles from Vilano Beach, a favorite spot for the locals. The Fountain of Youth and Old Jail are only a five-minute walk. Take a romantic stroll down the picturesque Magnolia Avenue, one of the most photographed streets in the USA. Historic downtown, St. George Street and the Castillo de San Marcos fort are a short 20-minute walk, only one mile. Restaurants, Antique Shops and many Boutiques are within walking distance. Don’t feel like walking? There are a couple of bicycles in the shed that you are welcome to use. Also available are beach chairs, beach umbrella and boogie boards.

This home is a three-bedroom split plan, allowing the adults a bit of privacy from other guests. The master bedroom has its own bath with shower. The guest bedrooms share another bath which has a tub. All bedrooms have Smart TV’s with complimentary Comcast programming. The home also has high speed internet with Wi-Fi throughout. Home has Central A/C and all bedrooms have ceiling fans.

The kitchen has been updated with new appliances, cabinetry and quartz countertops. The focal point of our kitchen is the original brick chimney once used for a wood burning stove. Neatly stowed away you will find all the necessary gadgets to accommodate your stay. Adjacent to the kitchen is the Mud Room, complete with large Washer, Dryer, sitting area and farm sink to rinse the sand off after a relaxing day at the beach.

The Living Room is a wonderful place to relax, complete with reading nook, fireplace and television. The gorgeous original wood floors add to the historic charm. Off the Living Room is a cozy Sunroom complete with seating area and writing desk. Looking out the front window, you will see the historic “Pink Castle” home which is a historic St. Augustine landmark.

What we love most about our home is the outdoor areas. The home is completely nestled beneath a canopy of stately oak trees which are draped with Spanish Moss. An outdoor dining area is set up under a beautiful pergola with string lights that set the mood. Enjoy some S’mores at the firepit chiminea. A new Weber gas grill is also available. The yard is plenty large enough for the young ones to play.

No issues with parking at this home. There are three spaces in the front driveway and two more in the rear driveway off San Carlos Avenue.

For your safety, the home has passed the fire department safety inspection. It is complete with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguisher, egress diagrams and emergency lighting.

Great location

The house is great for family trips . The inside is clean and spacious . The outdoor areas are fairly clean. Garden is fairly well kept We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood.They have bikes , beach chairs and plenty of beach towels .We highly recommend for families !

The hosts have thought of everything. We would be hard pressed to find anything they could improve upon. The love and care they put into the home and the guest experince eclipses anything we have encountered with other rentals. We could not have been happier with The Cottage on May. It is so charming and well appointed. The beds are very comfortable as well as good towels. We appreciated the welcome gift of wine and snacks after a long day of travel. Location, location location. What a beautiful neighborhood!

The house was in a good location and well decorated except for the curtains that were see through,so we felt like we wereIn a fishbowl, no privacy at all specially at night. We had to put blankets on the windows because of the light from outside in order to be able to sleep. About the backyard needs a little TLC it was uninvited and the barbecue grill was dirty. in a fish bowl

Beautiful holiday vacation

It was a real treat stain at the cottage on May. The house is very quaint and a real throwback to a different era. The property was spacious and the yard was fairly well maintained. A big plus for us were two bicycles that were available in the Back shed. We would definitely recommend this property.
