The Property -
Built in 1908 in the boom following St. Louis’ joint hosting of the 1904 World’s Fair and the Olympic Games, this historic property showcases the original architecture of the period. The pied à terre is the first floor flat that boasts a spacious 1500 square feet, with two bedrooms and one bathroom for a maximum occupancy of four adults. Come experience a charming bath in the original claw foot tub and surround yourself with vintage and antique furnishings. The kitchen opens to a Mediterranean-inspired garden accentuated by raised flower beds teeming with a multitude of different herbs and edible flowers with which to cook. Prepare your meal in the amply provisioned kitchen or bask in the open air with the outdoor kitchen. Savor your sumptuous feast in one of a plethora of dining areas. Relax with a mug of local coffee or a glass of wine at one of the seating areas or by a crackling fire. The garden is a shared space with the hosts and their two four-legged friends.

The property is situated in the heart of Tower Grove, in the historic Tower Grove Heights neighborhood. Nestled just a few blocks away from the picturesque Tower Grove Park, and just steps away from the vibrant South Grand District. Adjacent to the Missouri Botanical Garden, a National Historic Landmark and one of the oldest and largest botanical gardens in the United States. It’s minutes from other neighborhoods like The Hill, Shaw, The Grove, Midtown, Benton Park, Lafeyette Square, Soulard, and Downtown which are just to name a few. Its prime location offers a relaxing setting from the bustling city, while still being near the best restaurants, shops, entertainment, and attractions.
About Your Host -
Shannon Birke is the proprietor and host of the pied à terre and garden. She is also the owner of Bear and Stone Home, a dealer of vintage furniture and home decor. Shannon is an artistic soul. Her passion for art, architecture, and design is on display in the living space and accompanying garden. Shannon’s green thumb stems from a lifetime of horticultural pursuits inherited from her father. A prodigious cook, her talents for preparing a variety of cuisines frequently makes her the desired host for her circle of friends and family. Shannon’s other great loves are her two dogs, Gary and Winston, the namesakes for both her company and this property.

The Pied à terre & Garden can accommodate a getting ready day suite/event for your wedding party or serve as a venue for your wedding photos. The pied à terre and garden is a picture-perfect backdrop, promising endless photogenic opportunities. We are just minutes away from popular wedding venues. ACASA, Wild Carrot, Piper Palm House, Botanical Gardens and Dogwood Social are just to name a few.
WEDDING PARTY - GETTING READY SUITE- The suite is the entire pied à terre that is shown in the described the listing, including the shared garden area with the host (see the EVENT ROOM photo gallery to see photography from previous events)
$300 per night - weekend reservations require a minimum 2 night booking (plus $65 cleaning fee for your stay) This includes a complimentary food and beverage service for the Bride and Groom upon there arrival
* Maximum capacity of 4 people to stay overnight * Maximum capacity of 15 people during the day of the event to get ready (additional guests need to be approved by the owner)
PHOTOGRAPHY- * Available when the pied à terre and garden is not rented for overnight stays. * You may use the furniture in the pied à terre and garden to create the look you need, then move back.
EVENTS- The pied à terre and garden can also accommodate very small private events of 15 people or less. Catering services are available.

Other things to note:
The mattress in the primary bedroom is on the plush end of softness-firmness spectrum, so firm-mattress-lovers may want to consider alternate accommodations in order to get the best night's sleep.
The bed in the second bedroom is a trundle bed which contains two twin size mattresses.
Fire wood will be available upon request for the fire pit. If you are wanting to have a fire in the fire pit it will be started by the host during a designated time period per the evening of your request.
