You have commented that 'Rentalbikeitaly' were unreliable with contractual arrangements. Dear James & Elle, Thank you. We have previously had Villa Elefanti used as 'home' for a wedding in Rome, followed by a catered reception at the Villa . The couple visited us there is advance, by arrangement, and we assisted them with contacting a local caterer, and also other accommodation for their overflow guests, locally. I think it all worked out a lot cheaper than a lot of alternatives. Yours is the first honeymoon though. Maybe you'll give others the idea? Dear Moira, Thank you. The idea for the loggia (= cloister) came from a trip to Chile in January where we saw such structures often used to provide shade. We are pleased you enjoyed this years construction. The idea for the long underwater ledge/seat along the west side of the pool came from a game lodge in South Africa, and from another one came the large open shower enclosures idea. Dear Keith & Pamela, thanks for your comments. It's good to know that for you too, Villa Elefanti made the whole age range teenagers to 70's happy, both in the Villa and its garden and pool, as well as as a base to explore Rome and the surrounding small towns and villages. Italy has had in 2017 the hottest summer since 2003, and the worst drought for 70 years. Normally overnight temperatures are comfortable for everyone with top-of-hill breezes, and fans if necessary - there is one in each bedroom- keeping everyone comfortable. Come back and see us again soon!

It is gratifying that I, and our - Rome ballet critic and - architect Alberto Cervi, having set out to design a Villa for our own enjoyment as well to delight extended families or groups of friends, appear to have succeeded. Dear Chris, Thank you for your clear review. I think it is the width of the panorama, and its depth into the distance, which makes it impossible to fully capture the views in photos. It's also good to hear that the garden is appreciated - we put a lot of effort into establishing a Mediterranean climate dry garden, which can withstand 3.5 - 4.0 summer months without any significant rainfall and no watering. This October we will be planting another 130 plants of 20 dry environment adapted plant species and trying to get them established before summer 2017 challenges them. Rural northern Lazio is becoming more popular, and it's population is still not 'tourist-weary' compared with some parts of Tuscany, Umbria and Rome - only an hour away, and thankfully restaurant prices are still designed for the local population.
