We spent two weeks in the Old Barn in January. This is a really special place. A newly renovated, comfortable building, set in a stunning location, with views to distant Mount Teide. If you love tranquillity, calm, beautiful landscapes - within easy reach of fabulous World Heritage town La Laguna, amazing walks in Anaga national park and access to wondrous beaches with very few people - this is the one for you!!
We loved the outdoor space, with views of the surrounding hills and amazing sunsets - and ate outside most days. Well equipped, the house is scrupulously clean, well designed and we appreciated the added touches - such as mid stay change of bed linen. Although it rained a couple of days, we didn't need to use the log burning stove. There are two properties on the site, but neither overlooks the other, and each is really private.
If you want to eat in, the local market at Tegueste is excellent for bread, cheeses, vegetables and fruits - plus the oranges and avocados you may pick from the garden. Lots of great restaurants too - reasonably priced and good menus, especially the fish and local hams.
Great for history (La Laguna, La Orotava...), walks (Anaga and closer to home), coastline (especially to the north) , swimming on the Eastern coast and museums, galleries, shopping etc at Santa Cruz.
We found most of the interesting places to go and also to eat from the fantastic information supplied by the owner Carlos. He is exceptional and the very best and supportive of hosts.
We hope to return and will definitely recommend this property to our family and friends.
