“Lovely old property in need of some TLC. My room was in the basement so was a bit fusty but the bed was comfy and there was lots of hot water for showering.”

“Place smelled horrible. Bedsheets were stained. Mold all over the shared bathroom. I found a pair of used underwear beneath my mattress. The place had not been vacuumed in ages. Very shocked Expedia would allow a place like this to remain on their website. ”

“Great location for walks in the Peak District, with off road parking. Nicely presented house with fresh and clean decoration, well furnished and equipped.”

“The staff and the breakfast were amazing however the rooms have no shampoo (body wash is not going to do it for me), no lotion, no tissues and no phone. No phone makes it extremely difficult for overseas visitors to contact reception. Even the charming lady on reception who confirmed that these amenities were not offered in the hotel states that they were a budget hotel ‘but maybe not - we are quite expensive’. ”

“We were instantly made to feel welcome when checking in, everything was explained to us regarding the facilities the dining arrangements and the bars. Very friendly and polite staff too. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.”

“Staff were excellent. Very helpful. Food good. However, our room, No.3, was shabby, to say the least. Definitely not value for the price. Mould in the shower. Peeling wallpaper. Toilet window unable to open. Dirty carpet. Burnt arm on heated towel rail when bent down to retrieve towel from floor. No warning notice. Double wall socket peeling from wall. Dirty TV remote held together by sellotape. Small TV with poor sound. Photos support my assertions.”

“The hotel is having building work done which was not disclosed Drilling and hammering started at 730am Do not visit the hotel!! Terrible noise and no one at reception until after midday ”
