Tickle Cove Boat House

  • This memorable place is anything but ordinary.
    Located on the beach, next to Champneys West aquarium, you can see locals leaving early in the morning to go fishing, while hearing the loons call at night while sitting on the water front deck.

    Cross tickle boathouse is located on the beach right next to champneys west aquarium and the fox island trail.

    The boathouse is eco friendly with a composting toilet.

    Also pet friendly but to VERY SMALL breeds of dogs as you have to carry them up a ladder and the place is tiny, there is also a ($30 pet fee)

    There is no WiFi or TV at the boathouse it’s simply ment to come a relax and enjoy the nature and surroundings that beautiful Champneys West has to offer.

the place is great. we were there in a night with very strong winds, yet it was warm and stable inside. the place comes with a small kitchen , warm water and in general has some great views from the windows. place is clean. we did not use the balcony due to the winds but I'm sure it is also lovely.

The boathouse is a great little spot to stay in Champneys west. Easy to find and get in, it’s a tad windy so be careful with that but otherwise a great stay! Recommend the fox island trail while you’re there!

Unique for sure. Clean and quiet. Only thing I would say is the stairs up to the sleeping area are difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Just something to keep in mind which we didn’t pick on. Otherwise no complaints at all.

The boat house is a charming and unique stay. I squealed with delight when we came over the hill and I spotted the iconic pink boathouse. The kitchen is well appointed (although we only made coffee). The composting toilet is easy to manage. We didn’t try the shower. The bed is up in the loft and was easier to get to than I thought. We enjoyed chatting with the family and strolling the nearby trail. Watch for beautiful fox in the area too.

The property is essentially a cabin rather than the regular type of Airbnb accommodation people might expect. It is small but very unique, cozy, and lovely. The view is also very good. I think it would be especially suitable as a romantic getaway for younger couples. The check-in process was smooth and easy. However, it would be helpful to provide clearer driving instructions, as the mobile signal is very poor in Trinity. Unfortunately, my wife and I had some difficulty sleeping during our stay. The night we stayed was extremely rainy and windy, and the strong winds caused the structure to shake noticeably. We could also feel the bed shaking, which kept us awake for much of the night. I understand that this was an unusually windy night and may have been an exceptional situation, but the shaking and rocking of the bed were unexpected. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the unique character of the property, and our stay would have been much better if we had been able to sleep comfortably.

The boat house was great! The location is ideal for a quiet getaway, great coffee shop nearby (two whales coffee, YOU MUST GO) Note that there is no heating other than a provided space heater. When we arrived it was about 10 degrees outside and inside felt even colder. Bring slippers! Our toes were freezing walking around the boathouse on that first night. Once the weather got warmer the feel of the boathouse was amazing. You do get a limited amount of drinking / cooking water! In the kitchen, a hot plate is provided as well as a coffee machine and a stovetop kettle. The bed was comfy and cozy, we slept very well. The sunset was amazing! Nicole is great and had let us know she was refilling the water tank outside!

This is a unique experience in a changing place. Good for solo travelers or a single couple, this is a compact but comfortable property literally on the water. There are some caveats to staying here such as no TV, no wifi, and a ladder to get up to the bed. As long as you understand these things (which the hosts do an excellent job outlining before you come) you will enjoy your stay in the boathouse! Don't forget to take in the beautiful Fox Island trail (you simply walk from the boathouse to start)!
