Choctaw Labor Day
We had a wonderful time. The porches were perfect to sit on and enjoy the cooler weather. The kitchen had everything we needed. I have been to other cabins that didn’t half of the basic, making my stay even better. My other half and I can’t wait to go back.

Relaxing . . . Just what I wanted!
From Richard's welcoming email, to check-in & all during my stay, I couldn't have been more pleased. The charming cabin was clean, comfortable & had everything I needed. Even with the record heat in the area, it was super cool inside thanks to 2 air conditioners! Add in the fast internet service & streaming on a good size, well placed tv & I could have happily passed the weekend inside on the comfortable leather sofa. But outdoors beckons you at this nature filled property & I enjoyed exploring as much as I could. The river is an easy walk & made for a welcome & refreshing swim. Couldn't have had a better experience & I certainly plan to visit again! Thanks Richard - your cabin gave me just what I was looking for.

Cabin was nice, has everything needed for a comfortable stay. My only disappointment was distance from the cabin to the river, when booking I thought it was much closer. Overall a good stay, will plan to return in the fall or winter when temperatures are much lower than 100 + degrees.

I guess you didn't read the part in the description about the river being 1/4 mile away.

Nice getaway from the hustle and bustle
I really enjoyed how tucked away this cabin was. The mountains, cows next door, and amazing view of the stars were such a breath of fresh air and a much needed break from the bright lights and roar of the city.

Beautiful and serene
We had a great few days! Wish it could have been longer. Everything very clean and accommodation was excellent! Ty Mr Thompson for having it there for people to enjoy. Went hiking enjoyed beautiful scenery, would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Looking for somewhere quite
This was perfect for the 4 of us. Still trying to be energetic in our late 50’s and tackle nature walks fishing a little climbing here and there all included on site. Along with Very Small town charm, (medication and ammo in same store) river and beautiful lakes and scenery in less than 30 min drive. Late evening card games with our most fierce rivals and life long friends, Tons of stories by moonlight and sun rises over the top of mountains. EXACTLEY what we wanted and needed.

Awesome country cabin
Nice location. A ways out there but not too far. Lots of property to explore. For me one of the best things is the VERY loud evening nature sounds of cicadas, katydids, frogs, owls, and a ton of other sounds that I'm not sure what they were. Cabin has everything I needed.

Nice Cabin sitting on a huge plot of land to explore.
We selected this property for the location and availability, as we needed to be in the Clayton area for the weekend. Outside of a quick walk to the river, we did not spend much time at the property, however had the purpose of the trip been outdoor recreation this is a perfect choice.

Great getaway
Cabin was very clean and well maintained. Richard was polite and very easy to talk with. Property was beautiful and the walk to the river is recommended. The Choctaw Nation Capital is not very far away and is worth a visit. Clayton is a small town but has pretty much everything you need to get you through your stay. We will be coming back with the kids and bringing the kayaks for the river. Definitely recommend staying here.

Excellent Getaway!
My husband and pups loved our stay here. Private, beautiful views, close proximity to the river, and a cute cabin as well. Our dogs loved the open space to run, and there is a screened in porch with a picnic table to enjoy meals. Will definitely be back!

Good place
Had a great, relaxing time with my wife and infant son. Not incredibly much to do during a pandemic period, but it was the perfect little getaway from everything. DVD player didn’t work and there was no propane or charcoal for the 2 grills, but not big issues. I’d highly recommend.

Quiet Getaway
If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of life, this is your place! We enjoyed lots of hiking, swimming in the river and nearby lake, star gazing, etc. We also toured the Choctaw Nation capital Which was very interesting. The cabin is so cute and was very clean! The owner answered all Of our questions so that we were prepared ahead of time and had everything we needed for a fantastic week :)

Great getaway
We liked the place, great experience walking to the river with our dogs. It's perfect for a couple or small family, might be small for a group of friends. Everything was cleaned. Communication with Richard was very good. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed property
Very nice property. We really enjoyed swimming in the river. The only problem was accessing the river. We got lucky are dog happened to find a good spot. If not we would have had to climb down the bank through very thick brush. When you get to the field by the river. Do not go to the right. Go left down the bank for about a hundred yards and around a tree and there is a nice place to get in the water. This spot is waste deep all the way across and perfect for swimming. But hard to find. Pond was totally inaccessible because of very high weeds. You won’t even be able to see it. But overall a great stay. Nice and secluded. Make the pond a river more accessible and it would be perfect.

Simple, beautiful, peaceful
Stayed a couple nights at Rick's cabin in late June. The land is gorgeous - rolling hills, leafy trees, rivers, creeks, and lakes nearby. Easy to get to, yet very private. The cabin itself is well laid out and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated the screened in porch, the decks (front and back!), and the A/C 😊. My son had a ton of fun exploring the tire swing, tree house, and ATV, too (didn't ride, just pretended). We will definitely try to get back to this place soon!

Rain Check - Can't Wait
Richard was amazing to work with and full of great advice/information for me and my elderly mom ahead of our trip. Unfortunately, we hit a major medical snag at the last minute and he was very understanding, kind, and generous. I look forward to visiting in the future and taking advantage of the privacy and fun to be had.

Our Getaway
Property was nice and secluded. We could not find the lake on the property. Figured out where it was at the end of our trip, but you had to wade through knee deep water and could not carry things down to the lake with the wagon we brought. There were many wasps in the screened porch that we had to continuously kill. Even though we wore our rubber boots and used mosquito spray, 2 of the 3 of us got chiggers on our legs. It was very peaceful at night and everything we needed to cook with was provided. Would have preferred the TV be in the living room. Overall good trip but was disappointed to not have been able to get to the lake which was our biggest draw to the property.

Tiny House Living @ Finest
Very remote, and tranquil. All the sounds you want to hear, and none of the ones you don't. Great fire pit, and a wood pile. Bring kindling. Wrap around porches, including a screened in one. Well appointed with everything you'll need. Good home base. We day tripped to "little river" for a self-guided float with children. Didn't hunt there, but obviously an ideal hunting lodge point as well. Master bedroom, and two large beds on loft. Comfortable sofa and sitting chair in living room. Great place, host and value.

Great secluded Cabin and land
We loved this property. So much land that we could enjoy with our dogs and take them to the river to swim. If you're looking for a private weekend, especially if you have dogs, this is the place for you. We will be back soon!

Weather Did not permit-but had a RELAXING time!
This is our second visit to Rick's cabin. We had a wonderful time DESPITE it raining the whole time we were there. The cabin was clean and fully stocked with supplies (including toilet paper). We were able to relax and catch up on some reading, games, and just get away from everything!!! Thanks Rick!!!

Spring Break family trip
This cabin was clean super cute. My boys loved the upstairs (as most teenagers would) it rain for most of the time we where there but it was nice to be away from the daily routine.

country living get-away
This property is a great country living get-away. It is close to Clayton Lake, the Choctaw Museum and has everything you need to relax and enjoy nature. It was clean and comfortable. We would stay there again.

Getaway retreat
Wonderful experience! Wanted a quiet place to retreat from our busy lives and found the perfect location and activities with this property. Great communication with the owner and all the amenities advertised were available. Plenty of wildlife, fishing, fauna and beauty. Abundant rainfall made mud boots a necessity for walking and hikes but we would definitely come back!

Beautiful property with lots to do! Great owner who takes pride in his property
This property is beautiful...nature at its finest!!! It was so quite and secluded. It was exactly what we needed!!! We are city folks who LOVE the country life!!! The cabin itself was perfect for me, my husband, AND our two small dogs. We did not use the loft, but it would be great for children!! The cabin was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Some of the pots and pans need to be replaced with newer ones, but we didn't do a lot of cooking, so they worked out fine! We so enjoyed the covered porch and the back deck as we looked through the wooded areas for animals and listened to the hoot owls. The owner checked on us by e-mail, throughout our visit. He had suggestions of places to go and things to do posted in the cabin. We fished two of the lakes nearby and caught catfish, black bass, and a crappie. After a couple of days full of sight seeing, we enjoyed sitting around a campfire. We fished, visited the Choctaw Capitol Complex, and took A LOT of photographs!!! All in all, our stay was perfect!!!!

No internet or cell phone service but the cabin was nice
We were disappointed that there was no internet or cell phone service and for that reason we could not stay the second night because we could not contact anyone. We could not contact my parents to check on our kids and we were not ok with that. Owner did not refund for the second night, we did not spend the second night there. The cabin was nice and well equipped. It has everything you need and it was quaint. The kitchen was well stocked and cabin had everything you need. I would recommend it but if having internet or cell phone service is important to you then this cabin will not work. We could not contact the owner if we had any issues. For that reason I give it 3 stars.

While most guests get cell service in this area, it is an advertised remote area and as such, we cannot guarantee that your provider's cell service will work at our location

Fresh Air and Beauty Everywhere
This property is 100% stunning. We arrived at night and, since I do not know the area, thought the best views were behind the cabin. When I awoke the next morning, I was enamored with the lush trees and greenery out the back windows. Imagine my surprise as I walked out front and was bombarded with mountains spanning the horizon - it was like taking a blindfold off!! The cabin itself is lovely: very clean and has all the kitchen equipment and basic ingredients to cook. My daughter LOVED the loft bedroom! All in all, our stay was outlined by the cabin rules posted above the door💚🌳🌲🗻🌊💚
