Exceeds expectations
This is more beautiful than listing can even convey. It's remote and quiet but still easy to get to and driving around is easy. Many reviews mentioned the size of the kitchen but that's no surprise based on photos and the spacious bedrooms and bathrooms are worth the sacrifice of cooking space, there is plenty of room to get a meal ready and the outdoor dinning space is fabulous. As someone very afraid of creepy crawlers, I expected the creatures to be more of an issue in the evening but didn't notice anything. The property is gated and the ability to transition between the beach and the pool with young kids was amazing. Sitting by the pool to read a book was also so relaxing. The beach is quiet and so nice to spend the day at or go for an early morning walk/run and the sunset is like a postcard. Definitely eat at some of the local restaurants, Lochitos and La Ventana del Surfista were two close restaurants I wish we had more time to eat at again. Property management was so helpful and responsive from planning our trip to the time we left the property. Lastly, driving into Tamarindo and Avellanas for some activities was an easy 20-30 minute drive, most roads are dirt roads but not narrow or difficult to navigate. It's been wonderful and I hope to be back!

Relaxing beach in paradise!
The house and property were as described and shown, and the pool was bigger than anticipated! Although the beach is hidden from view from the house (due to the dune elevation), it is only a few steps from the property gate. Spent a great deal of time in the ocean (swimming and boogie boarding) and walking the beach to the estuary and the tide pools. Had to be respectful of the tides and rip currents at the beach. Sunsets on the beach were amazing! Neighbors were very helpful and friendly. Communication with the property managers was flawless and greatly appreciated! Used the charcoal grill a few nights and ate out at local establishments...Rest. Latinos is a must for the patacones! Even during Semana Santa (Holy Week), the beach remained very private with little use from the general public. Definitely enjoyed our 10 days here!

Fantastic house by the beach

beautiful seclusion in paradise
The place was as advertised: comfortable with a beautiful pool area and a secluded beach just beyond the property. It was secure and the sunsets each night were absolutely stunning. I didn't want to leave. There were some nice restaurants nearby too.

Amazing
Stayed for a month and would have stayed forever if I could. Beautiful house. The property and pool are very well maintained. You have all the privacy you could want. House has everything you need. Easy communication with property manager. Will definitely be back. Please go check out the Sea turtle hatchery on the beach.

Great property - stunning sunsets, secluded beach, nice amenities. There are some less exciting realities like limited groceries/stores nearby, unexpected encounters with wildlife in and around the house and some local roads that are not in the best condition for driving. Overall a wonderful place to stay.

A real slice of heaven on earth
My husband and I love privacy, and this was perfect! The home is so clean and filled with tranditional Costa Rican wood furniture and comfortable beds. Great water pressure in the lovely showers and the pool is to die for. If that isn't enough, you have you're own access to a private beach with fantastic waves for surfing! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Beach Home
We really enjoyed our stay at Pedacito de Cielo! The beach was beautiful and quiet, and we also loved having a pool to swim in. The house had everything we needed, and the property manager responded quickly to questions we had. We definitely recommend this place if you're looking for peace and quiet on the Pacific.

Rare paradise
The house is right on the beach, you can hear the waves, and is very unpopulated. We had the ENTIRE, from end to end, beach to ourselves the first sunset. Great waves for body surfing. Was a little smaller than we expected but that was not an issue for us as a couple. We’ll bring our kids next time!

Some Good Some Not
It was hard to find and road was very rough. Had trouble getting in touch with property manager and getting home address. The house us beautiful but the kitchen is about 6 ft x 8 ft. The only dining area is outside with the goats and chickens. The pool and beach are fantastic. Should have gotten supplies before getting to the property. There are not any grocery stores or dining places near.

Great House
The house was in a nice quiet location away from big tourist cities. Almost no one on the beach. Very close to where they release the turtles when they hatch. So no need to pay for that tour. The house was very well equipped with everything we needed. The bedrooms were very large compared to the photos. The pool was excellent too. I definitely will stay here again.

Private location right on the beach with a pool
We loved this location. It was such a local experience right on the beach. The house was perfect for our family of 3, and we cooked and ate most of our meals there. We were able to navigate with google maps, and the recommendations from the host were fantastic! They were all spot on -from renting a 4WD to the local restaurants and attractions!

A great Costa Rica getaway
we loved our stay here. the communication from the property manager was so amazing- they even arranged to have the house stocked with groceries for us on the day of arrival for a tiny fee! the location cannot be beat- literally on the beach overlooking the Pacific- we walked on the beach multiple times a day. Interior is a bit dated but we were so thrilled with the outdoor space we didn't mind :)

Great private beach house
We stayed here for only 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. The house was nicely spaced out to give our family lots of room. The pool was nice for the kids when we didn't want to be down in the ocean every minute of the day. The beach was breath taking. We felt like we had the whole beach to ourself, barely seeing anyone. We walked a long distance to the more 'main'beach area in Junquillal. Its was so peaceful and amazing to walk along watching the massive waves crashing down. The only warning, is I wouldn't take any inexperienced swimmers to this area. Our children are older and very good swimmers and my husband was in the water with them the whole time keeping them in the swallow. They LOVED riding the epic pacific ocean waves!!

A Little Slice of Heaven - Great House
The house is on the beach and beautiful. The pool is wonderful and the ocean is only 30 yards away. YOU WILL NEED A CAR! There is nothing within easy walking distance and the roads are awful. There is a nearby mercado and a few restaurants, yet at least one mile away. Tamarindo is about 30 minutes away by car. The countryside is lovely and the people are quite friendly. The beach is awesome, with black sand and volcanic rock formations. Georgina was great to work with and quite helpful. The house is fenced in and gated - very secure, and the price to pay for that is heavy duty locks. We were visited by goats and chickens daily.

Paradise
Exceeded my expectations beyond what I can imagine. Georgina and her PM Marian, went out of their way to make this experience enjoyable. I cannot express how much this means to me regarding reliability, patience and communication. They arranged groceries, transportation, private chef/food, massages, entertainment into Tamarindo, Covid testing etc. This made me feel extremely comfortable and allowed me not to stress, took full advantage of my relaxation. The locks took a little time getting used to, but I didnt mind because it was just ensuring our safety. Being just us 2 ladies, in the middle of jungle, did seem a tad creepy at night with all the noises & being away from so much, but thats just me having anxiety. It is rainy season, so I expected bugs, but they did intrude our dinner time outside more than I would ve liked, but t hat came with territory. There were tons of bugs and crabs (LOL) in our pool, but as mentioned to me before hand, the Landscape tech came out to clean it so we were able to swim. Waves were very rough so I didnt get a chance to swim, but the lovely and friendly neighbor who surfs, offered to come out with me. Our driver Enrique was so pleasant and helpful, LILA is the BEST, she made amazing meals for us .. and Estel did an amazing job with our massages by the beach. I really cant say enough great things about this place. It was absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait to return. Maybe in dry season :) THANK YOU staff for making my stay enjoyable and for my beautiful flowers that I obsessed over every day I was there lol.

Beautiful spot on Playa Junquillal
This is a beautiful spot that is pretty remote and quiet, which is what we wanted (2 adults, 2 kids ages 8 and 11). We rented for 10 days and took a few day trips but otherwise enjoyed the pool, the gazebo, the hammock and the beach, and the chickens who visit the house every day from next door - a highlight for our city kids. The pool was lovely, kept very clean and in good condition, we loved morning and night swims (it is lit nicely at night). The estuary with mangroves is a short walk down the road and adults can kayak (could not find kayak rental for kids, who went in a little rowboat with their dad). We saw others paddle boarding, and you could also arrange fishing in the estuary. The beach is steps from the house and is beautiful, black sand and quiet, great for long walks. One day we walked about 25 min south to snorkel at a spot we heard about during low tide. The best snorkeling we found though was Playa Blanca - a short drive north and my favorite beach, very pretty. It’s noteworthy that there is no ATM nearby so come with cash as many activities are cash only. We didn’t fully internalize that and had to make a couple of trips to Tamarindo or Santa Cruz as a result. We went horseback riding on the beach several times. We highly recommend Estero Tours - the owner, Elsa, lives right next door to Piedacito de Cielo and she is lovely. We also went south to Nosara and enjoyed the Miss Sky Canopy tour - zip lining in the mountains and jungle. The house itself is fine, a bit dated - it could use a deep cleaning under furniture, but we spent very little time inside. It was great having the full size washer and dryer. Loved the outdoor shower. Kitchen is very small so not a lot of incentive to do much cooking but that’s ok, many restaurants nearby. Lastly, we tried many of the local restaurants and enjoyed many of them. Our favorite was La Flaca in Paraiso, delicious seafood, a wonderful woman owner, and a beautiful atmosphere - we ended up going there 3 times. We also loved the fried chicken at La Ventana de Surfista - a place with a very local vibe. Overall highly recommend.

Perfect Getaway-Tranquillo!
Our vacation was very relaxing! It was a beautiful spot right on the ocean with a fantastic pool all to ourselves. We took advantage of a fruit and vegetable truck as well as a fresh fish truck that came on Thursday/Friday. There is a local market very close that you are able to pick up most of the necessities if you were to run out of something. I would highly recommend this home and plan on visiting again. Georgina was fantastic at taking care of any issue that came up or questions that we had. This was our third time going through Amapola Rentals and Georgina and plan on booking with her again next year. Thanks for a great trip to your beautiful country! Thanks again, Jason & Kristina

LOVED our stay!
We rented for 10 days in Dec with our two children, ages 12 and 9. Beautiful location and the house was great for our family! I've stayed in Playa Negra before but have to say this location is even better. We prefer quiet and that's exactly what you get. The gorgeous beach is just steps away and most of the time, it was practically deserted and felt like our own private oasis. Great for long walks and my husband even had a chance to fish and release from the rock outcroppings. We met some really friendly locals out fishing one day when there was a sardine run and and the fish were biting like crazy. So amazing! The house was perfect for our needs. While the living room and kitchen are smaller, the pictures are accurate and we fully expected that. Everything was very clean and it had all of the amenities we needed. The outside space is where it's at and where we spent our time! The pool is perfect and our kids really loved swimming all day long. My husband and I enjoyed floating with some cocktails. :) Multiple spots to lounge, eat, and relax outdoors. We've stayed at many tropical locations and this outdoor space was one of the best! The pool was cleaned several times during our stay and everything was in great condition. We even had some friendly visitors from the dog next door to a couple of stray cats, which we all loved since we were missing our animals back home. Neighbors were very quiet and friendly. We always felt very safe. Playa Junquillal is such a wonderful location. Amazing restaurants within 5-20 min around Playa Junquillal and Playa Negra. Highly recommended Lochitos! We ate there several times. We did a day trip to Tamarindo, but decided Playa Junquillal was more our speed. A couple of excursions but otherwise relaxed at the house... riverboat tour through TPV (again, highly recommend) and then our own day trip to Llanos de Cortez which is very easy to do on your own. Georgina was very responsive. To all my questions prior to our stay to helping to arrange our Covid tests before we returned. Overall, this was one of our best family vacations. Gorgeous country, friendly people, perfect spot. Just what we needed after rescheduling multiple times due to the pandemic. We will most certainly be back. In fact, we loved Playa Junquillal and this particular beach so much, we had a couple of serious conversations about eventually buying a retirement property there!

Amazing location
We stayed for 2 weeks at the end of October through the beginning of November. A lot of the restaurants were closed due to it being off season and the road leading up to the villa is first and filled with major potholes!!! We had a regular car and had to navigate very slowly- we highly recommend an SUV as many of the dirt roads through your Costa Rica are in similar shape. The beach was amazing and is almost a private. The private pool was awesome and was cleaned several times per week. The pictures of the property are older and the property is more dates looking and needs a refresh but is still very nice. Georgina was amazing!! Answered all of our questions and helped us get a condo test, at home, for the flight back to the US. Very easy and not too expensive.

Perfect Home Away from Typical Tourist Destinations
We enjoyed a fantastic ten days at Pedacito de Cielo! It was exactly what we were looking for. Typically when my husband and I travel we like to stay away from your normal tourist destinations and look for out of the way, quiet locations. This fulfilled that desire perfectly! The pool was well maintained during our stay by Osvaldo. He was there four times during our stay. What more could you ask for. Georgina, the property host was amazing. Timely response with every request and kept us well informed of all situations. She arranged to have a chef come to the home and cook an exquisite meal for the five of us and we were allowed to customize the menu to all guests preferences/allergies. She also arranged for the Covid testing needed to return to the States be done at the house. We didn't need to waste time trying to find a clinic or heading to the airport early to ensure this was done. Georgina was amazing! The pictures don't do the place justice. It was 27 steps from the pool to the ocean! We hardly left the property because it had all we needed. If you are looking for quiet relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of tourist towns, this place is perfect!

Exactly what we were looking for!
This place was perfect for our family (husband, myself, and 18 year old). Everything was as expected and the place was well equipped. We enjoyed taking the boogie boards out to the surf during low tide and coming back for a dip in the pool. We spent several days just enjoying the house and surroundings. The WiFi was sufficient, the place stayed cool during the day and you could use the air conditioning in the rooms at night to take away the humidity. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of pillows. We enjoyed being near nature and there was a sweet dog that came to visit often, even sleeping a few nights out on the futon. The black sand beach was a real treat and most of the time you rarely saw other people. On our last trip to Costa Rica we stayed in the Playa Flamingo area and we definitely liked Junquillal much better. We could still easily take trips into Tamarindo if we wanted more action but really liked being away from those crowds. A magnificent storm rolled through one night and knocked out the power for awhile. I would suggest having a small flashlight with you just in case because it is very dark. The upside of that is on a clear night you can walk out to the beach and see a sky full of stars and the Milky Way.

A Slice of Heaven INDEED!
We absolutely loved our stay and Pedacito De Cielo far exceeded our expectations! It was super private, gated and protected which was great for the children, and the home left no stone unturned with its amenities. Waking up in the morning to the sounds and presence of the Pacific Ocean was out of this world. Morning coffee by the pool, private walks on the beach, the many sounds of nature which surrounded us...everything was perfect! I have visited many places within Costa Rica over the years and I have to admit that this was one of my favorite places to stay. We will be back.

We made the best choice ever in selecting Casa Pedacito de Cielo
What an amazing, relaxing place to stay in and emerge into the Costarican lifestyle. This home was so comfortable and enjoyable. It was very hard to leave. From the moment we pulled to the front gate and walked to the stunning, lush backyard with the refreshing pool and sounds from the ocean just outside the gate. Inside the home was comfortable, quaint and plenty of room for us. While relaxing on the covered porch, enjoying the surroundings and nature sounds, we were visited by 'Pablo', the neighborhood pup. Such a sweet boy who kept us company and joined us on walks down the beach. Close to local 'sodas and family restaurants and a short drive to beautiful beaches where you can enjoy watching the surfers do what they do or enjoy some amazing food while watching the beautiful Costarican sunsets. We would be back in heartbeat and not change a single thing. Thank you for giving us this beautiful opportunity to enjoy Costa Rica while celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. It was everything we were looking for.

Relaxation in paradise
One of the best rental properties I have ever stayed at!!! The pool was just fun and listening to the waves from this beach front house made it so difficult to leave that we had to stay an extra day. Made a special friend in Pablo, the neighborhood dog who visited us everyday! Will be visiting this place again!!!

Best place to in February!
We just finished a great trip to escape the bitter cold of the Midwest/US. House was as advertised. Kitchen well stocked, bedrooms and a/c comfortable at night. Property Manager was extremely responsive and helped arrange meal delivery when we didn't want to eat out, including a fabulous Valentine's Day dinner! There is a good grocery store 3 miles from house. Made a couple of fires on the beach. Beach access is flawless and this stretch of beach is all sand and perfect for body and other surfing. Water pressure was excellent. Having washer and dryer was really nice. We used the Beachside Clinic in Huacas for our Covid tests. (Did a day trip to Tamarindo.) Got results in about 24 hours. (Better than some places in U.S.) Junquillal Beach was usually deserted and peaceful. Friendly neighborhood dog kept a watch over everything. Many locals offering surf lessons, fishing trips, etc.. We were not bored, and we will be back!

We arrived late on Monday the 17th and was met by the property manager with the keys and a short tour. The house is in great condition and was clean. I had asked for a nice flower arrangement and fruit basket and she hit it out of the park. She did a wonderful job of making us feel at home. The kitchen is small but you can open the door and feel like your cooking on the beach. Lots of wind from the beach with the doors and windows open. I wish that they would describe that the house has direct beach access from a gate in the back yard. The first 3 feet is rocky but after that there is paving stones to get to the beach. I took pics and hope to post them. The beach is almost private. There may have been 3 other people on the beach while we were there. If your looking to get away from the tourist areas this is the place to go. Be careful though you may never want to leave.

Excellent!
I rented this home with my wife and two young children 1.5 & 3.5yrs old. We did not want to leave. The home was spotless, pool was perfectly clean and the grounds were very well taken care of. Very responsive property management group, if we had any questions she responded almost instantly. We stayed in 4 home rentals over the course of two weeks and we easily liked this one the best. Beachfront right out your door. Excellent sunsets! Wonderful place, beautiful area - would love to return someday! Thanks for having us.
