We don’t have pets, nor do we want to stay in places that are pet friendly if it can be helped. So to our surprise there was a dog in one of the rooms down the hall from us! When we brought it to the attention of the desk clerk the next morning she admitted they knew about it and it was okay because the dog owners had paid an extra fee! “A great little place. I’d enjoyed a stay here one time before—on a Monday night. This time it was a Wednesday so The Laurel was open! I checked in at 7:45 so only 15 minutes before closing. I walked down the stairs, they gave me a table, I had a fantastic cocktail and very very tasty steak bites with nice accompaniment. “We were thrilled to see that, unlike other Best Westerns we stayed at the past 2 weeks, the very low 1960 models toilets were replace with taller ones. The layout of the room was excellent providing adequate bathroom counter space. The wet bar area was a plus as was the small dining table and two chairs. The TV was easy to use and channels were easy to navigate. The room was clean and the Luxury Vinyl Flooring jn the bedroom was a positive change allowing for easy cleaning//disinfecting. ...

“The staff was very kind and the room was okay. My only complaints were there was a very loud train nearby and the floors were really gross. We weren’t able to take our shoes off and when we did fresh out of the shower when we didn’t know, our feet were black. ”
