The Mad River Lodge: Riverside Escape

Wake up beside a flowing mountain river and unwind among the trees in the heart of Waterville Valley. This spacious riverfront retreat features three bedrooms, an open loft, two comfortable living areas, a well-equipped kitchen, a pellet stove, and a peaceful backyard with a deck and fire pit. With room for up to 9 guests, it is an ideal home base for family vacations, ski weekends, hiking trips, and relaxing White Mountain escapes.



The Space:

Step through the private entrance into the foyer, where you will find convenient access to the garage area before entering the home’s warm, rustic interior. Terracotta-colored tile, exposed wooden beams, natural textures and large windows create a relaxed mountain atmosphere throughout the lower level.



The open-concept main living area brings the kitchen, dining space and sitting room together, making it easy for everyone to stay connected. Prepare breakfast before heading to the slopes, pack lunches for a day on the trails or cook a full family dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. Amenities include a full-size refrigerator, gas stove and oven, dishwasher, toaster, microwave and coffee maker. The dining table seats six and sits just steps from the kitchen and living areas.



After a day outdoors, settle into one of the two comfortable living rooms. The front sitting area features a sofa, a cozy pellet stove and sliding glass doors that fill the room with natural light and frame peaceful views of the surrounding greenery. The second family room offers another sofa, a TV, beautiful exposed beams, and direct access to the backyard. Its open layout connects naturally to the dining area, giving families and groups room to spread out while still spending time together.



Please note that the wood fire stove is unavailable for guest use.



Two separate wooden staircases add character to the home and provide access to the upper sleeping areas and loft. The flexible layout includes:

✔ Bedroom 2 — second level — Queen bed

✔ Bedroom 3 — second level — Three twin beds

✔ Open loft — second level — Queen bed



The combination of queen and twin beds works especially well for families, couples traveling together, and groups with children. Please note that the loft is an open sleeping area rather than a fully enclosed bedroom.



Outside, the riverfront setting becomes the centerpiece of your stay. Step onto the deck and take in views of the flowing water and surrounding trees. The grassy yard offers room to relax, and the outdoor seating around the firepit creates an inviting place to reconnect after a day of adventure. Whether you are sipping coffee beside the river, sharing stories under the trees, or enjoying a peaceful evening outdoors, the property offers a true opportunity to slow down and unplug.

- This property accommodates up to 9 guests.

- Primary booking guest must have at least one prior stay history on Vrbo and maintain a 5-star guest rating/review history. Reservations that do not meet these requirements may be subject to additional screening, cancellation, or a refundable security deposit request at the host’s discretion.

- The primary guest must be 25+ with ID if requested.

- Unapproved late check-outs incur a $250 fee, and extra guests beyond the reservation count are charged $50 per person, per night.

- Parties or events are not allowed.

- Pets are allowed for a $100 per pet fee.

- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the home. Violations will result in a $500 fine, plus any additional charges for odor removal and furniture cleaning.



Guest Access:

Guests have exclusive access to all levels of the home, including two living rooms, four sleeping areas, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, private attached garage, full-size laundry and all provided amenities.



Please note that the home does not have air conditioning. However, ceiling fans are available throughout, along with plenty of windows for natural airflow. The hot tub is currently unavailable and is scheduled to be installed in September and the wood fire stove is unavailable for guest use.



The Neighborhood:

The home is located less than one mile from Waterville Valley Town Square, placing restaurants, cafés, shops, Corcoran Pond, and seasonal village activities just minutes away. Cross-country ski trails are located across the road, making it easy to begin your winter adventure without traveling far.

A car is recommended for reaching the property and exploring the greater White Mountains region. Town Square, dining, shopping, and recreation are about one mile away. Waterville Valley also offers a complimentary seasonal resort shuttle connecting Town Square, the ski area, local lodges, and other village stops.

The primary guest must be 25 years of age or older, and a valid ID may be required upon request. We’re happy to welcome well-behaved dogs to the property with a $100 pet fee! Please note that cats are not permitted due to allergy considerations. Let us know in advance if you’ll be bringing a dog so we can ensure everything is set up for a comfortable stay. The home includes multiple levels and stairs, as well as a pellet stove. Guests should follow all operating instructions and house rules. Children must be supervised near the river at all times. Because this is a natural riverside setting surrounded by forest, guests may occasionally encounter insects and local wildlife.
