Una delusione
Facciata e parti comuni molto curate, ma la stanza era orrenda. Piccola e con affaccio su una scala di servizio esterna. L'armadio era inutilizzabile perché ingombro di un tavolo da stiro, termosifone e ventilatore (l'impianto di condizionamento...) che tirati fuori non avrebbero lasciato spazio per muoversi. Il minibar non c'era. Il bagno non veniva pulito quotidianamente. Il servizio al ristorante era lentissimo. Una cena di tre portate è durata due ore, poi la cameriera si è presentata con lo scontrino da firmare perché la cucina aveva chiuso e non abbiamo potuto ordinare altro. Il servizio di tè/caffè in camera non veniva rifornito completo ogni giorno. Abbiamo trovato i buchi nel muro per un ripiano ripristinato solo il secondo giorno per mia segnalazione. L'albergo non mi ha cambiato la stanza e la prima sera ho usato il bollitore tenendo la base poggiata sulla mano. L'impressione è stata quella di un trattamento per clienti di serie B, Una delusione. Non lo consiglio e non ci tornerei.

I loved this historic hotel which harkens back to prior times. The common areas are fabulous. The lobbies are full of overstuffed chairs, which encourage one to sit, linger and watch people. The breakfast room is full of light,with enough food options to satisfy royalty. Our room was cozy, the bed comfortable. My only complaint was the lav faucets. Note the plural. H & C. Not H/C. No mixer valve.

Family room is facing to the space between the buildings, which makes the room dark. Also there is no nice view (actually bad) from the window. In the morning the pigeons wake us up.

I had a woderful stay . The staff went out of their way to make me welcome. The new chef opened her kitchen especially for me and cooked a wonderful meal for me the likes of which would earn 5 stars in any restaurant. So mg stay was perfect. Thankyou

Shame has such potential! Cleanliness lets it down
We were quite disappointed with the hotel tbh sadly. We only stayed one night, so out up with it. The location was close to Cliffs Pavillion or we would have complained or left if we were staying longer. The initial things was the inside of the lift door. It was filthy. The carpets on landing were dirty. Our room door dirty. My initial view of the room I saw the desk, which had marks and black stuff over it, which I scratched and came off. I wondered why the cleaner didn’t manage to do that. The general cleanliness in the room was ok. However there was a chip l fr under the desk, the walls were marked..just needed a clean. Marks on the chairs which we didn’t use, window seals needed a wipe over. Bathroom was clean, looked fairly new. Towels were lovely and clean, although as we left, the replacement bedding and towels for our and other rooms were just left on the dirty carpet outside doors! Breakfast was okish. Cooked breakfast wasn’t that nice but edible. One 4 piece toaster for all guests eating. Food was constantly being reloaded but our new food in top, so sausages were rock hard at bottom. It’s such a shame tbh, as it could be such a lovely hotel. Staff were lovely however. Very helpful and lovely people.

The hotel was grim and really needs some updating and a good clean. The cooked breakfast was inedible and definitely not worth the money. Despite paying for parking, we were issued a parking fine. Overall, a very disappointing stay.

Thank you for a lovely stay. Receptionist was welcoming, helping me with the paid parking for the road outside (worth signing up to one of the parking apps / online platforms required before arriving, especially if arriving on your own). Would recommend.

Weekend getaway.
Hotel room walls were a bit thin and could hear neighbouring guests. Was unable to listen to tv at night as had guest next door complaining about hearing our tv. Maybe hotel should consider refurbishing the walls for noise councilation. Other than that was a comfortable stay and good size room.

The service, value, location and view were great. Unfortunately the water in my room ran cold the night before and morning of my overnight stay. Unfortunately i didn't have the time to inform the staff in the morning as i had to get to work, so they didn't have a chance to address it. Really enjoyed waking up to the view of the sun rising over the sea. Staff were very helpful, informative and friendly.

Good overnight stay
One night stay, staff very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel was older it was tastefully decorated and clean. The bed was very comfortable with immaculate bedding and the bathroom was modern and very clean, would benefit from a shelf in the bathroom for personal toiletries and a hook to hang dressing gown etc.. The full English breakfast was self service and plentiful but there was only very thin bread for toast and no croissants, the coffee was very weak and lacked flavour. Would recommend staying if visiting Southend.

Could be so much better....
This is a beautiful building in an enviable cliff-top location but overall experience is...'adequate'! Parking before 9pm is an issue. Reception was functional but not friendly; same for checkout. Bed comfy and clean. Bathroom had problem with toilet cistern - should have been spotted by housekeeping, as should the stains on comfy chair, dirty floor of lift, creaky/dirty stair edgings.

Typical old hotel Great staff, but limited eating options out of season so i ate elsewhere Didn't have breakfast Great views over the bay - but the industrial areas on the other coast are a bit of a shame, but you cant move them :) Room looked as if its had a fairly recent refurb - but they maybe forgot the bathroom There is far more to Southend than i imagined. Yes, the town is somewhat run down but there are some amazing new eatery's along Westcliffe are which we all very busy which surprised me

Hotel very outdated and even though I paid for upgrade room, was very basic, no bedside lights , room scruffy. Male receptionist very rude, restaurant closed and no food available no apology. Zero customer service. Very disappointing

Lovely sea view suite overlooking the Thames. Great location for cliff side and seaside walks. Parking app required for street side parking but convenient to use once set up. Friendly staff.

There was plenty of space in the bedroom. The dining area was pleasant with views of the water. The staff were helpful and friendly. Good information prior to arrival regarding car parking.

Great location!
Nice hotel in great location. Only issues with our room was misted up double glazing (spoilt our sea view!) and no shelves or drawers for clothes. But these are minor and overall it was good. We ate in bar and that was fine. Staff very helpful.
