“The room was bare ones, yet clean. What I didn't like was that the windows didn't open so you couldnt get fresh beach air through the room. ”

“They did a great job renovating the Tar Heel motel. Clean, comfortable rooms. Bring K-cups with you if you are a big coffee drinker and don’t pack heavy. This is the best of old school Outer Banks, reminds me of when my parents would take us to OBX in the 70’s staying at the Beacon.”

“The property was right on the beach/sand dunes. There is a set of stairs and a ramp over the Dune from the parking lot. We had a ocean front room with balcony that was very enjoyable. The room was spacious with comfortable beds, full bank of windows facing the Ocean and nice bathroom. Breakfast was a treat every morning with fresh brewed coffee and a hot or cold breakfast; In tidy surroundings. Hotel is centrally located for restaurants, sites and fun. Ample parking. “Disappointed. The property needs a little TLC. Abandoned flower pots greet you at the front entrance along with overgrown trees overlooking the water. The room was clean and comfortable, especially the Tempur-pedic mattress. The toilet runs for 20 minutes each time you use it. Nothing has been upgraded in many years but if you are looking for a quiet place to read a book on the porch, this is the place. It would have been nice to smell coffee brewing in the dining room but not available. Just...

“This is our second year staying at this hotel. It’s super clean, the staff is very friendly, the beds are comfortable, great water pressure in the shower also. The indoor pool is a great amenity! We will totally be back!”

“We loved Shutters on the Banks and will stay there again when in the area. The staff was very welcoming and helpful in giving us information about the area. The room was comfortable with beautiful decor. Breakfast was very good and the dining area very well-done and comfortable. The balcony right off our room allowed us to drink our morning coffee while watching the sun-rise. We then took a walk to the beach, then enjoyed the hot-tub and pool. Great location with access to popular sites. ”

“My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at The Tranquil House Inn in Manteo while we explored the Outer Banks. The rooms and service were great, and the location right on the water in downtown Manteo was perfect. Manteo has a charming downtown that offers plenty of shops and attractions without feeling too touristy. We also really enjoyed the light breakfast offerings each morning and the staff were so friendly and helpful.”
