Vacanze Whatley

On arrival we were informed to dine within 8:30 p.m. and once sit at the restaurant (at approx 7:35 p.m.) we were informed that nothing on the menu, except for what displayed under "sunday roast", which included about 3 starters and 3 mains, would have been served. If we were told before we would have chosen a different dining location. My daughter and I are allergic to oils and asked for a plain salad with 2 boiled eggs and were told that they couldn't make it as the boiling process takes to long (!). Eventually we were served the salad with 2 slices of frozen avocado and payed £15 each for that! Just as crazy as it sounds. Both the guys (both uncooperative) at the restaurant did not even informed us that there were unseasoned plain veggies available, which we learned as we saw other's dishes passing by. When we asked for a portion of that, it was 8:36 p.m., we were told that the kitchen was closed and that they would have just served desserts from that moment on. Unbelievable, the kitchen was shut but not for desserts. Despite such bad experience in the evening, the morning staff was very kind and breakfast variety was very satisfying.

La struttura sembra un po' abbandonata a sè stessa ma, in realtà è un trasandato "voluto", girando per Bristol vi renderete conto che questa caratteristica fa parte un po' della città. Tuttavia, ho riscontrato una serie di problematiche nell'albergo: - lenzuola sporche, sia appena entrato in stanza, sia la sera, dopo che avevo richiesto un cambio delle lenzuola; - asciugamani sporchi; -adattatore della presa elettrica non funzionante; - la finestra non si apriva e non poteva esservi ricircolo d'aria; - l'aria condizionata può essere modulata solo dalla reception e non ha funzionato durante la notte del mio soggiorno. Devo precisare però che non appena ho evidenziato il tutto al manager dell'hotel, mi è stato detto che metà del soggiorno mi sarebbe stato rimborsato (cosa che è successo) e mi è stata offerta la colazione (per altro, buona). Purtroppo l'esperienza non è stata buona ma ho apprezzato tanto il comportamento del personale che ha tentato di rimediare alla pecche evidenziate.

Beautiful centuries-old property, yet extraordinarily well-renovated and with all modern comforts. Situated in its own quiet grounds, Old Church Farm provided us with a lovely night's rest after a long day of travel. We would definitely visit again.

De Vere Tortworth Court is a beautiful and unique mansion, completely surrounded by nature, built over 170 years ago. We came to visit the Cotswolds, and this accommodation worked out quite well (it is a 40 mins-1h drive from the main villages). Things I loved: All the shared areas are well kept and organized, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good as well as the bistro and the cocktail bar in the library room. Penhalingon's products in the bathrooms Plenty of free parking space Things that need improvement: We stayed for 3 nights in a standard room, and it was okay. The room is quite comfortable and of a decent size, even though it’s quite old – I would suggest upgrading to a more premium room. The bathroom needs maintenance… the sink was extremely impractical to use, as it had two separate faucets: one for cold water and the other for hot water. As it is a very old mansion, the rooms are not soundproof, and we could hear every step and conversation from other guests. There was no fridge in the room and no bathrobes or slippers provided for the spa. The spa was disappointing. The main pool was cold, and the only available jacuzzi was too small and always crowded. Overall I am happy about my experience and I would come back as it is such a unique and beautiful location!
