When in town

Very clean, tidy, very comfortable. Central location, two minutes walk to the Shambles and all the major tourist attractions are within a short walk.

Brilliant location

The location of the property was excellent. The lady who ran the property was lovely. My room was small but cute, and perfectly adequate for me travelling solo. There was a bit of a smell in the bathroom that seemed to be the drains. I hope they'll have a look at this and sort it. Your can hear other guests occasionally as the walls are very thin but it didn't really bother me. I'd definitely stay again.

Straight in the city centre which was what I wanted, very clean, bed very comfortable host very good. I couldn't open the room's window for fresh air, but not a problem. Thank you 😊

Great York location

Great location just outside York walls & close to York art gallery & York museum. Clean & comfortable room with modern wc & shower. WiFi details & additional tea/coffee sachets available on ground floor.

Birthday trip to York

Me and my fiance stayed here for 3 nights for his birthday. Brilliant location, close to the centre and all the tourist attractions. The room had all the essentials, everything was clean and the bed was comfy, only downside was that the bed frame is very squeaky so was very loud turning over. Self check in was easy and the code for the lock box was given in plenty of time before check in. Brilliant price compared to other places in york, will definitely be back and would recommend!

Great little guest house, situated extremely conveniently for everything you wish to do and see in the centre of town. Great communication from the owners, definitely recommended and great value for money. Thanks very much for a pleasant stay x

Lovely comfortable bed with own en-suite shower room, only 5 minutes walk from York Minster, two minutes from the Art Gallery and its fantastic evening light display to music, and the town centre round the corner, so everything on your doorstep. Towels, kettle, tea and coffee provided, hairdryer, handsoap and shower gel also. Very good value, considering how close to town it was. Highly recommended. Lovely landlady who brought me a heater on the first night in case I was cold, but the room wasn't at all. Would have stayed longer if I didn't have to get back for work!

This is a wonderful l little place right near the town. You can walk to everything you need. It’s unusual with a living area across the hall from the sleeping quarters but it was a good experience overall.

Convinient

We got there an hour after checking in and still didnt recieve a code to get the key until another hour later. So we got the code 2 hours after when we were supposed to and had no updates about what was happening to the point where we nearly booked somewhere else last minute. We called the number supplied on here and it doesnt work, it just hangs up instantly so we had no way of contacting the property. We tried to leave our room and the door knob came off, the screws came right out the door. The bed screamed like a banshee if you moved on it just a millimetre, sqweakiest bed in the world. The room was clean. The building is in a good spot, very close to all the shops you'd want to go to. There just needs to be more communication from the property about getting the keys and they need to change the contact information on Hotels.com

STAY CLEAR of this Guest House

I will start by saying I was not expecting any form of luxury at the price of this guest house. The check in didn't start well and yes the earliest check in was advertised as 14:00, however by 13:45 no code had arrived as detailed, so I tried to ring the owner on the number provided, "The number was unobtainable" so I rang Hotels.com, again they could not reach the owner on their contact number. Hotels.com, did they would comeback to me within 30 mins and advise the next step. Whilst one the phone with the Customer Service a text message came in with the code (@13:56), So not a great start. The room was OK, it was clean and presentable, so was what I was expecting, storage is minimal, the free bottled water was a glass water container with Tap Water (Stretching the term "FREE BOTTLED WATER") The room was tepid at best and the heating was never on in the full 3 day / 2 Night stay. The bottom of the stairs which is the only fire exit was full of stored bedding and a vacuum cleaner with 2 electric oil heaters ( Maybe that was the heating if you wanted it. Electrical sockets are in short supply with an extension cable supplying one side of the bed. The refrigerator in the room did not work so was nothing more than a flat surface to place items on. If the owners expect oil heaters to be used (None of which had any PAT Testing certificates on them - (Mandatory Electrical Safety Tests) Then they should be electrically tested every 6 months or they are a fire hazard.

Better try else were. would be a last Resort

On Arrival Day1, The Tv did not work, Wi-Fi would not Connect. The Sink was Tiny unable to fill the kettle with water easily or wash your face. Bed was okay (in the first room) No curtains on the window only blinds. Day Two Sunday Morning, Knock on the door, the owner said we need to change our room cos the room needs maintenance done, We had to pack and move rooms Just before we were getting ready to go out for the day!. We were inconvenienced, and the owner did not seem to be appreciative about us changing rooms!. It looked like he had another booking and used the excuse of work to be done on a Sunday as an excuse for us to change rooms. 'Wait there's more'. We had to leave our stuff, We didn't shower and had to go out because the room move wasted so much time!. we left our belongings in the Lounge room that came with our room, (That TV in their did not work either, no aerial). When we returned later at night, No Glasses, No Cups for a hot drink, The tray that the cups and tea bags were in had spilt tea dried in the tray. We only had one towel for the two of us and there was no shelf above the tiny sink and no were to put hand wash. I phoned the owner on his mobile , left him a message to call me regarding no cups or glasses But I had no reply or contact from the owner, we used the empty teabag Jar and Coffee Jar as cups to have a hot drink, luckily we found some tea bags from the entrance hall. Disappointed with our stay and would not recommend this place to anyone.
Tv had no signal, Ariel not connected for even normal TV channels.

The Tiny Sink was so small we could not get water into the kettle easily. The second room had no shelf above the sink, hand wash had to go below the sink. difficult to wash your face in.

It was ok

Well. It was ok. I wouldn’t stay again. It was small. Shower was stuck on hot, and not very good either. So if the water didn’t take your skin off the corners of the bed would more than make up on the pain front.... who gets a bed frame that sticks out in such a small room...? If neither of those got you, you could guarantee the Tv would. I’m not large. I’m 5.4” and 9 stone... if you still have your legs intact and skin on, get ready for the constant running water from the toilet and other noises all the time. If you’ve survived all that. Prepare yourself for the smallest sink ever, with a 3 inch mirror right above it so you can headbutt that when you try to spit the toothpaste in the sink.... higher would have been better. Fun. Not so fun.
