Enter through Bootham Bar, one of York’s historic gated entrances and you will soon find yourself in the main plaza in front of the majestic York Minster. The Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum, York Chocolate Story and York Castle Museum are also close by. When you get tired of wandering the cobbled streets take an hour to rest in one of York’s beautiful city centre parks; the Museum Gardens and Rowntree Park sit alongside the River Ouse and will provide a quiet interlude to your city break.
