Bijou offers a unique take on the classic Joshua Tree retreat, blending the charm of a vintage English country cottage with the natural beauty of the high desert. Surrounded by towering boulders and thoughtfully designed to feel warm and lived-in, the home creates an inviting atmosphere that feels more like a private cottage escape than a traditional desert getaway.

Natural light filters through the surrounding boulders and windows in the morning, filling the home with a soft, peaceful glow that makes easing into the day feel effortless. As golden hour arrives, the final rays of sunlight spill across the desert landscape, creating a beautiful backdrop for an evening soak or quiet moment outdoors. After dark, the home's tucked-away setting offers a peaceful place to unwind and stargaze beneath the open desert sky.

The outdoor spaces at Bijou is designed for intimate moments and slow desert living, with towering boulders creating a naturally secluded setting throughout the property. Settle into the hammocks with a good book, gather around the firepit for conversation or step onto the deck built around the surrounding rocks for a relaxing soak in the hot tub.

The seasonal cowboy tub is available from March through November, offering a refreshing way to enjoy warm desert afternoons. A shaded outdoor dining area and grill make it easy to enjoy a meal outside, while the natural boulder formations create a dramatic backdrop throughout the property. An outdoor shower built directly into the boulders adds another memorable touch to the experience.

As evening settles in, the property becomes especially peaceful, with open skies and minimal light pollution creating beautiful opportunities for stargazing.

The living area at Bijou offers a cozy, inviting place to settle in after a day exploring the desert. Comfortable furniture layered with soft pillows and blankets creates a warm atmosphere for relaxing, playing games or settling in for a favorite movie on the smart TV.

A Bluetooth speaker allows you to set the mood with your own music, while the eclectic décor and cottage-inspired details continue throughout the space. With plenty of comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere, the living room feels like a cozy home away from home.

The kitchen is designed for relaxed meals and shared moments, with enough space and cookware to prepare your favorite foods and drinks together. A Keurig coffee maker makes slow mornings easy, whether you're enjoying a quiet cup before heading out for the day or lingering over breakfast together.

The dining area offers both a dedicated dining table and breakfast bar seating, creating flexible spaces for everything from morning coffee to an intimate dinner. When the weather is right, take the experience outdoors and enjoy a meal beneath the desert sky in the shaded outdoor dining area.

The bedroom is a cozy private retreat featuring a king-size bed and charming cottage-style doors, for easy access to the patio for a peaceful morning coffee. Thoughtful details throughout the space create a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels comfortable and personal, offering a peaceful place to settle in at the end of the day.

The bathroom continues the home's eclectic character with a moody jewel-toned palette and a walk-in shower, creating a rich and intimate space to refresh after a day spent exploring the desert.



-Surrounding Area-

Bijou is surrounded by dramatic boulder formations that create a naturally private and secluded atmosphere while keeping you conveniently close to town. Located approximately 5 miles from the heart of Joshua Tree, the home offers an easy home base for exploring the area's restaurants, shops, galleries and outdoor adventures.

The property is situated near a main road, providing convenient access to the surrounding area. Because of this location, guests may hear occasional traffic and engine sounds during their stay. The tradeoff is an easy-to-reach retreat that still feels tucked away among the boulders and away from the hustle and bustle of town.

Joshua Tree National Park is approximately 12 miles away, making it easy to spend the day hiking, climbing, exploring the iconic desert landscape or watching the sunset before returning to your private retreat. Pioneertown is approximately 7.6 miles away, while Palm Springs is about 30 miles from the home.



Guest Access:

The entire property is yours to enjoy! You will receive your smart lock access code before your arrival!

Please note that there is a locked storage shed located in the backyard that is not accessible to guests and is used for rental supplies.

-Hot Tub Rules-

To protect your health and safety, as well as the integrity of the hot tub and linens, all guests are required to shower before and after using the hot tub.

Please do not allow pets of any kind or size in the hot tub. After use, please leave the spa cover secured in place to help maintain the temperature and protect the tub. Do not stand or sit on the spa cover.

Please note that if the hot tub or cowboy tub is left in poor condition due to misuse, an additional cleaning or maintenance fee may be charged to restore the tub to its proper condition for future guests.



-Cowboy Tub-

The cowboy tub is seasonal and available from March through November.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, with a maximum of 2 dogs. Please note on your reservation if you are bringing dog(s) and how many, and we will adjust the price accordingly. Cats and other pets are not allowed.



-Parties & Gatherings-

Parties and large gatherings are strictly prohibited at Bijou. We prioritize the safety, comfort and enjoyment of our guests and neighbors and kindly ask that you respect this policy throughout your stay. Failure to comply will result in a $500 fine.



-Quiet Hours-

Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. External speakers are not permitted. Noise violations may result in a minimum $1,000 fine.



-Late Check-Out-

Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee.



-Smoking Policy-

Smoking is not permitted inside the home or within 10 feet of the property. Smoke residue or evidence of smoking may result in additional cleaning fees.



-Desert Wildlife & Safety Tips-

Bijou is located in the rural desert, where guests share the landscape with the wildlife that naturally calls this area home. You may encounter desert ants, mice, coyotes or, if you're lucky, even a bobcat during your stay.

Please remain aware of your surroundings and give wildlife plenty of space if encountered. We also recommend keeping doors closed when possible and supervising children and pets while outdoors.

There is an exterior security camera facing the front driveway to monitor vehicles and occupancy. There are no cameras facing private guest areas.
