“Breakfast was delightful each morning! Also, our family appreciated the lovely sunroom, the helpful staff, the convenience to the village of Grasmere and countless footpaths, the treats put out each afternoon… we plan to return to the District and will stay at Victorian House!”

“Wonderful place to stay, a true country guesthouse. Easy 10 minute walk from Ambleside. The mountain view from my room was stunning, watching the evening sun over the Fairfield Horseshoe. So peaceful, the only noises you'll hear are sheep and birds. Highly recommended.”

“Second stay at Elder Grove, and loved it as much as the first time! Super clean and comfortable. I slept well every night, and breakfast was wonderful. Be sure to try the Orange Marmalade, it’s outstanding! On top of everything else the staff was warm and welcoming. The service was excellent. I highly recommend!”

“Perfect place for a getaway. We were warmly welcomed by the host who straight away recommended places to go for dinner. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view of the countryside. We had a full English cooked for us which was spot on as we departed to climb scafell. We definitely would stay at this hotel again when we next visit the lakes ”

“Nice clean room , room was on the ground floor at the front so there was a bit of road noise . In hindsight as I was up early for a sporting event I should have asked for a room further away from the road . The bathroom was very nice but decor and furniture in the room was a bit tired , and the bed was not to me and my wife’s liking but that’s just a preference I guess . Generally a very nice place and perfect for our stay”
