Such an amazing room felt so comfortable staff are amazing room was amazing for the price I paid. I have the most amazing stay with my partner and I will definitely be going back again Breakfast was lovely too

Surprisingly nice
The family room we booked was spacious and comfy. It was quiet which suited us, although the hotel does have a games room and a bar. We went to Ashdown town for dinner. Breakfast was decent as well. I liked it

Nice hotel, breakfast was good. Wouldve like the restaurant to be open in the evening. Bar hosted by 'Kev' was a really friendly and helpful guy, made the stay much better and would give him 5* for service.

I won't be returning
The mattress was so over-rhe-top soft that I ended up sleeping on the floor. There was a peculiar and unpleasant smell in the living room. The front door was out of alignment with the frame so I struggled to lock it; this is probably why it was left unlocked for my arrival and why I was told to leave it the same way. The exit out onto the fairly busy, moderately fast road has a blind corner to the right.

Great place to stay
“Home from home” very comfortable and well equipped accommodation. Really pleased with our stay from start to finish. We will book again for sure !

Friendly staff! Dated decor but clean. Didn’t realise there was no food service in the evenings so we had to make alternative arrangements, had I of realised I would have most likely chosen different accommodation. However on the whole a nice place to stay

Fantastic Stay
Absolutely fantastic break for myself and partner and 2 dogs. Huge room, spotless facilities and very dog friendly. Breakfast was very generous with so much choice. Beautiful gardens and the hotel sits adjacent to the Tissington Trail. So many beauty spots within a short driving distance or cycle ride. Staff were so friendly and helpful also. Could not fault this hotel for the very reasonable price.

Has the potential to be amazing. A little rough around the edges, but clean. Needs a thermostat so you can do the heating yourself as it wasnt on when we wanted/needed. A plug in radiator was however supplied ao that did save the day. If touched up, would be a really amazing little place.

Had a good stay for 3 nights. Breakfast was excellent. The twin room was perhaps a little small but was OK.

Location was excellent with easy access to walks. Ample free parking. Hotel needs refurbishing. Perhaps the current condition may be COVID related economic reasons. Shower head was broken and this was repaired next day Staff hospitality needs improving. Hence low rating.

Hotels for Monsal trail in Peak District
It was a lovely comforting experience and I would go back again. It met my needs and location was just right! Somewhere clean and comfy to spend the night and big breakfast to start my hiking in the Peak District. Perfect and excellent value for money.

Really nice couple of days at Newton House Hotel. decent breakfast and good location. not serving main dinners yet but plenty of good pubs and restaurants in the area. very pleasant!

Right in the heart of the Peak District . The Expedia website still advertises evening dining facility and on arrival we found out that this was no longer on offer . We were lucky to be able to book local restaurants and pubs for the 2 evenings we were there

Amazing stay
Had an amazing stay. Hotel exceeded our expectations. Better than in the photos! Set in the beautiful rural farm countryside. Bike trail just behind the property. Walking distance to Dovedale and stepping stones (well, if you like walking). Nice breakfast and very warm and personal service. Enjoyed sitting in the garden with 4 hens pecking around. Highly recommended!

Great location but mediocre facilities at best
Fantastic location. Many parts of the Peak District are well within short driving distance. The free on site parking was very useful and the gardens around the house were lovely. The double room we stayed in was large with a large bed, however it was dirty. It looked like it had just about been vaccumed but was not clean. There were also lots of stains on the carpet, so walking without shoes in the room was not pleasant. The ensuite was acceptably clean. The included breakfast was a basic with a choice of a continental or cooked style available, both quite underwhelming and below average in quality for this price. Also worth noting that the free wifi was very slow. Overall our stay was bearable but we probably won't be returning.

hotel in excellent area, so very quiet, rural area about 6 miles from ashbourne town. Staff very friendly. Some parts of hotel could do with a makeover though.
