“Booking was effortless through Expedia. We were greeted at the door by Pat, the owner. He gave us a quick tour and set a combo code to the front door of the house of our choosing. There is an open snack and coffee area, and "trail magic" shelf full of items that a hiker might need without a store nearby. The shared bathroom was WELL stocked. “Room was clean with very comfortable bed and pillows. Smaller room but very nice. Dinner and bourbon bar was very good with nice selection. Comes with free breakfast which is home made eggs bacon and biscuits and gravy and a few sides. Way better than the same usual hotel breakfast. Staff was amazing with the personal keys to the castle feel ”

“Breakfast lady wasn’t friendly. Breakfast was mid at best. No milk was out and the main dish was cereal…Staff (housekeeper Jenny) was knocking on the door 2 hours before checkout and said oh sorry I did not see your do not disturb sign…hotel really run down but they had people working on the roof and some building authority came thru and shut them down for disregarding the safety of your guest and employees. gm Danny plays a good front but he treats and talks to the employees terribly and...

“Room was very clean and looked freshly renovated. Shower was great! Bed was not the best, but better than some hotels. Room and bathroom were large with lots of space! Overall a great stay!”

“I booked a room with a hot tub however, when I got there, it was not a hot tub, but a whirlpool tub inside of the bathroom. It was definitely not worth the $40 up charge. On top of that the only vending machine robbed us of $5 and the breakfast area was cute but not very well stocked and the waffle maker doesn’t work properly. It wasn’t a horrible stay but not what I expected. ”

“Nice breakfast with hot options. Would work with average, low carb, and vegetarian diets.”

“Clean and updated room, nice bedding and towels, AC unit works great; just no coffee maker or hair dryer so if these are a must, bring your own. I stayed here to travel in between Hungry Mother and Mt Rogers areas, great hiking and mountain views. Saltwell and Skull Gap are nice overlook areas, also Virginia 16 for Back of the Dragon. Rogers is about 20 min away, as is Hungry Mother, Chilhowie is the perfect small town spot to stay in. ”
