We had booked a 2 bed queen with lake view and balcony/patio. We got our room as booked but that is where the experience changed. The room smelled musty and like dog. Now I know the hotel does allow dogs but I thought thorough cleaning of the room after each guest leaves would be sufficient in eliminating the smell. We were wrong. The previous guests also left a dog poop bad full on the patio right by the door. With the musty smell came an overall damp feel to the room. The beds and soft surfaces were slightly damp to the touch. We purchased from Walmart Lysol, disinfectant wipes, and air fresheners. I wiped down all surfaces and sprayed Lysol everywhere in hopes of the musty, wet, dog smell to go away. The next day we were out all day, however when we returned the smell was just as bad. I called the front desk to ask if that is what all the rooms smelled like. The front desk clerk said he “didn’t think they all smelled like that.” He did offer to move us to another room. This time we got a smaller room but still a 2 queen with a lake view this time no balcony/patio. The smell wasn’t nearly as bad as the first room, but the cleanliness was again lacking. The amount of mold in the bathroom around the tub and shower stall was bad. I again cleaned all surfaces and in doing so it was apparent that dusting is not part of the room cleaning service. AmericInn should upgrade and think about the cleanliness of their rooms. We won’t be staying at another AmericInn again.
