Bellissima struttura

Nella immediata periferia di Bath sorge il Bailbrook Lodge hotel, da non confondere con l'omonimo House a 40 yards di distanza. Ambienti mantenuti magnificamente , personale cortese e disponibile, pulizia ottima, colazione superba, nella miglior tradizione inglese, anche la coppetta di champagne non guasta. Insomma, un posto da rivisitare quanto prima. Bravi.

The room was clean, bedding, etc. The floors were aweful squeaky, so we could hear when the folks in the room above us moved around, so between the night owls above us, and our own night visits to the rest room..it wasn't a restful sleep. It's an old historic building and beautiful, but definitely needs tlc in the rooms, and most definitely the floors. The building is unmanned which we did not realize until check in for those who prefer on prem staffing.The hot breakfast was good, but pricey for the serving size provided. Breakfast is served between 8-9:30 as an fyi.The breakfast staff member was amazing and friendly!

The initial booking in was a nightmare as we were not sent the check in email. Had it not been for friends travelling with us we would not have got access as even after Expedia customer services tried we still couldn't check in. Adding to that the third couple that we were travelling with had not been booked by expedia i tobthe hotel despite having a confirmation email fro january 2025! The room was in poor condition with black mould in the shower. Floor tiles on the shower not bonded to the floor well and grouting cracked. Fitted carpets not actually fitted properly and looked like a patch job. The plug socket for the room kettle was not working and as such we had to carry boiling water across the room from the only working sockets. The front edge of the shelf behindcthe toilet had a dangerous edge with no rounded tile trim the exposed cut edge of the tile making it hazardous if the bathroom floor was wet. No hot water for showering. However on the plus side breakfast was of a good quality and fresh the staff were very friendly and clearly made the best of a bad situation with Vipin going above and beyond waiting for us to arrive beyond his finishing time to assist us getting us all accommodated.

Rooms were glorious, exceeded expectations. My 6foot son had some issues with the headroom in the shower, but that was just a minor blip! Override loved our stay!!

1. Unlit driveway entrance making it hard to find after dark.. 2 . No reception for enquiries we had for extra supplies needed 3. Uneven floors underneath very dated carpets making it dangerous for anyone unsteady on feet 4. Worn out firnishings ..like Ripped couch in one of rooms, very tired wing chairs that need reupholstry 5. Unclean conditions Sadly we had not much choice at the time of booking so had to settle for this place On the passable ... Bedding was clean & down was confortable We had the lower garden suite with 2nd bedroom ..thd extra space was good. Bathroom refreshed but not for a person taller than 6' !

Location was excellent. Check in was smooth. Towels and bedding were clean. The rooms were warm and that’s where the bad stuff starts. The decor was clean but very uninspiring, the furnishings some were old and dirty and damaged. This could all be improved. What can’t be changed is the second bedroom. This room has two single beds between the main bed room and the bathroom. I’m not claustrophobic but I’m not exaggerating to say I had a panic attack sleeping in there. It’s a big room with no windows, it was pitch black with lights off and unbearably warm. There was a night light provided which was too bright and if you open the door to the bathroom which was cold there was a constant drip. I found it oppressive and barely slept. The bath room was ok for one night but I wouldn’t want to shower there, they’ve tried to make it look good but it’s shabby and tiny with a very low roof. With an update on the furnishings and layout the rest could be improved but the second bedroom without any natural light or air can’t be changed. Not to put people off just so your aware .

Clearly the building is undergoing refurbishment, much needed. Beds were fine, bathroom needs upgrade asap. Shower wall attachment did not work. New carpet needed.

When we drove up to the property, we thought, “What did we get ourselves into?” But then we found our room and it was splendid. The hotel is a bit outside the city center, but getting to the city center is walkable. There are sidewalks the full 1.9 miles, and there’s only one semi-dangerous traffic circle.

The Bailbrook Lodge is a very old, traditional hotel, shabby but spotlessly clean with lovely white linen. Our en suite had a rolltop bath. Rumour has it the room next to ours is haunted but we heard no noise whatsoever during our stay. As it is pretty close to the centre of Bath we got a taxi in and out to the sights rather than take the car. Staff were very friendly and I would recommend a stay here. Only downside was the Wifi which only worked intermittantly and on the ground floor rather than upstairs in the rooms.

I read the many scathing reviews and found OYO (who manage this place) an absolutely infuriating company to deal with and feared the worst. But the codes to access our rooms came through on time (2 hours before check in) and we didn’t need them anyway as there was a very helpful guy to welcome us in person. The room had lots and lots of charm but it’s an old place and there’s not really any glass-and-chrome if you know what I mean. We had “superior” rooms which may well have made a difference and weren’t too pricey. I’d stay again but OYO you have to raise your game!

Dissatisfaction

To whom it may concern I did not enjoy my stay last night and I will leave a review for you and I will be writing to hotels.com  also to register my dissatisfaction with the following; Unclean room. Damp room with a piece of paper covering this. Tatty and well worn Furniture and  carpet. Mirror dirty spots on it and is cracked.  One towel not fresh, blank marks on it.  Shower not fit sit purpose, too hot as temperature control did not work, I have to get out of the shower snd washed mr hair in the sink this morning. In addition as not secured to the wall properly.  Sink plug home blocked easily and then gurgled when taking time to drain. TV stand leg broken.  I arrived after 9pm last night and left at 6.30am so no time this morning when I discovered the main faults of the shower facilities etc. to report them. This is to list the main complaints: I would like to hear your reply and justification for the sub-standard room and lack of cleanliness.  I very unhappy customer.

This is the worse hotel I ever see. I booked two day stay, I can not tell you how bad condition of this hotel, but only thing I can tell you is that after I checked in, I checked out right way and lost two days money. The pictures on the app is all fake. Dirty unsafe you can name it.

I was expecting a hotel, reception, bar etc but it was a self arrival log in online. But staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Old style, not run down but needs a refres and a better shower in my room. I would stay again now I know what I am going to get

It had a quiet garden and was set well back off the road; good parking. The manager was mostly helpful and considerate. Breakfast was very good. Did not like not being able to access the fridge, or oven when the lift-up bed was down. There were no cooking or eating utensils.

Staff was good, property is too old need lots of renovations, broken glass windows, switches , taps wrong way round hot tap was cold tap. Hot water was too delayed. Bedding was dirty and Tv way old . Can’t understand how AA has given 4 stars to property . Not for us . You can spend little more to get much better place .

Bath is gorgeous and we had a lovely time. These were the best beds and pillows of our whole 2-week trip around the UK! The family suite is in the basement, and consequently a little basement-like.
