I had a mixed stay at my time at STEPS Batumi. I'll start with the positive. The property was overall clean and comfortable with decently sized and outfitted rooms in the two-room suite. A big perk was an in-unit washing machine that I made use of. The pool and spa were both well-maintained, staffed, and enjoyable.
The negatives include the following. First, the hotel only has one accessible elevator per side of the building, and there are over 30 floors in the building between hotel guests and apartment residents. This leads to long waits and very crowded rides. The high residency of the hotel also means that staff are overworked and take a long time to answer desk calls.
Likely for similar reasons, housekeeping has a massive window to fix up rooms--anywhere from 10 in the morning to 9 in the evening (21h!) Another major downside was unreliable wifi, which worked fine in the entryway of the apartment, but not in the bedrooms.
Another important note that is not entirely the hotel's fault but is worth considering, is that Batumi is rapidly expanding and at a rate that outpaces the capacity of infrastructure to meet the needs of newly constructed areas. One evening while I was staying the city cut off the water overnight, leaving me literally high and dry. Asking around with locals, they confirmed this happens on occasion in Batumi. Again, this was not the hotel's fault, but it would have been nice for the hotel to offer a nice gesture to compensate, but this did not happen.
