Climb Steep Stairs to 5th Floor Apartment
We had high hopes for this VRBO rental based on other reviews and pictures. The place was difficult to find - it is not down a "road/street" as per instructors, but an extermely narrow space between buildings that covered by construction tarps/ladders and extremely dirty (broken glass, garbage, old blankets, etc.), resembling a homeless encampment. We were a little nervous to find someone there each time we left the apartment complex. It wasn't an ideal environment to visit with kids. I would encourage the renters to spend time cleaning the entrance area even if this is the responsibility of the city. The broken glass really made it unsafe to get to and from the apartment and likely ruined our overall experience. Inside the apartment, I was disappointed to find an abundance of hair on the couch that I picked off by hand because my son was going to be using this as a bed. We also found dirty (egg filled) dishes back in the cupboards. The agency was fairly quick to respond to texts for help regarding lack of linens and wifi, which was greatly appreciated. The apartment itself was nice and I'm confident our experience would have been much better if the above was addressed. Note: Apartment is on the 5th floor, with no elevator and the stairs are extremely steep (handrail is vertical). If you are an older couple, have a lot of luggage or very young children, this would not be a good option for you.
