I contacted he hotel prior to arriving and within the cancellation period to say that the room price had dropped significantly. They agreed to sort this for me on arrival; which they then refused to do when we arrived.
Despite booking a superior room, it was dated. Furniture scrapped, a dirty bathroom door handle, lights not working. The standard lamp bulb held in place with masking tape!
The meal was lovely but initially the staff forgot about us and we had to wait over 20 minutes to be served on a relatively quiet evening, and only after I asked that they take our order. To be fair, thereafter the dining room staff were very attentive and helpful feted free drinks by way of an apology.
Breakfast was, at best mediocre.
I had been very much looking forward to staying at the hotel, having had a significantly better experience previously. However, I won’t return.
