“Reception was excellent. Grounds/estate amazing, miles of walking and an historic church with a 900 or so old Yew. It is worth reading the history of the place, layers and layers of it. They take beautiful care of the property. I had a beautiful room with a beautiful view right out my doors and a little patio. “Registration was cursory. Certainly not rude, just “fill in your details and here’s your key.” No offer of assistance for two seniors to carry suitcases up narrow stairs. No further information offered. Room was adequate. Shower is traditional British style - in a very high narrow tub, very dangerous for seniors in my opinion. Notice in room that no outside food allowed, and may result in an additional charge. Overall good value for money, but more of a two star than a three star hotel. ”

“You need sharp eyesight to see the hotel as it's right on the roundabout. It was perfectly placed for where we needed to be the next day. Parking was not a problem. The room was an odd shape and in need of new carpet. The doors are fire doors and they really did Bang shut every time someone came in our out of the coach house. “From just the perspective of location and staff I would give my 5 days stay here better marks,but so much is wrong. My ground floor room (7) had a window that would only open 2 inches and it overlooked a temporary rubbish dump. I closed it all day as I was worried about rats coming in. I could hear water running down there on many occasions and it wasn’t raining. Also staff went down there to make phone calls and neighbours were noisy. Very hot and no fans. Rooms are cleaned every other day...
