Looking for a place with the comforting sounds of a busy, "green" home? Want to reduce your travel carbon footprint? This spacious, sunlit "Lux Loft Plus" apartment with private entry & EV charger adjoins a solar powered house near IU.
The bedroom-separated from the main house by a partition-features a king bed, music studio, kitchenette, an impressive library, & luxury ensuite bath. Living room with high-end futon & desk. Upstairs fitness room air hockey, ping pong. Pickleball court available.
Before booking, you should know that guests and owners will share mutual airwaves. If you prefer silence, or are looking for a quiet or romantic getaway, the host will be happy to accommodate you at another In Bloom Rentals property. But if you enjoy the sounds of a bustling household, read on!
The apartment is separated from the main house by designer, floor-to-ceiling opaque acrylic wall panels that are not sound proof. The partition locks on both sides for security. The upstairs loft/recreation room has a privacy curtain but is open to the main house so guests and owners will hear one another.
The home is situated on a beautiful 1.65 acre "urban" neighborhood farm with a year-round garden, fruit trees, berry patches, roof-top conservatory, chickens, beehives, & more. Guests should expect to hear sounds from the house, farm, and its many residents including a family of six, gardeners, beekeepers, chickens, 2 hypo-allergenic dogs, and 2 outdoor cat. Likewise, the owners expect to hear sounds from guests practicing the piano, strumming the guitar, or enjoying a fun game of ping pong. Quiet hours are 10pm-7am. A white noise machine, air purifier, and ear plugs are provided for your comfort and convenience.
In addition, if you prefer more quiet and privacy, the living room is equipped with a high-end futon and blackout curtains and can be closed off from the bedroom/main apartment to minimize noise.
The owners greatly value earth-friendly products and practices. From the VOC-free paint, to the luxurious wool carpet, to the bamboo toilet tissue, their commitment to people and planet is abundantly evident. The house is solar powered and heated by a geothermal system. There is a backup generator should the power go out. All waste is composted onsite or recycled. The owners are intentional about sustainable and organic farming methods, and their produce is shared throughout the community. They were supplying fresh produce to local farm-to-table restaurants and are actively seeking new partners to do so again.
Coming soon: Garden tours! **100% of proceeds from bookings and tours benefit the farm's non-profit gardening education program** Ask your host about adding seasonal U-pick veggies and berries option.
The owners are also adventurers and love to stay active! There is a bike station on the property with a pump and more. Feel free to bring your bikes! Brown County has some great "mountain" biking trails, and Wapehani trail on Bloomington's near west side is a short drive away. Plus, there is a small basketball court and pickleball court (requires prior consent from owners).
The entire private apartment on the west side of the home is for guests. It is located on the second floor, so requires walking up 2 flights of steps on an auxiliary building to access.
The only shared space is the outdoor terrace and the auxiliary building for entry.
The owners enjoy interacting with guests. If they are out on the terrace watching a movie or football game, playing pickleball, or just hanging out in the yard, they would love to meet you, and may invite you to join in the fun.
