  • Take a break and unwind at this peaceful, budget-friendly beachside retreat. Located within the Bali House property, Bali Hut offers a relaxed island escape in a private position behind the main residence. While it does not feature direct beach views, guests can enjoy the property's fantastic beachside location and convenient access to the shoreline.

    The rental, located in the township of Bulwer, includes the entire residence, and contains a kitchen, 2 x bedrooms, 1 x bathroom, and an outdoor dining area.

    *Please note that this property is fully off-grid and reliant on solar for power, rain/bore water for water, and septic for sewerage. Additional electrical items, particularly, those that generate heat (rice cookers, fry pans, hair dryers, hair straighteners etc), are not permitted to be brought to this property.*

    Accommodates up to 6 guests.

Listing has since been fixed and is relatively accurate, but the property is honestly just adequate as a shelter. Place is mouldy and smelly backs onto a messy workshop. 400 a night is pretty damn rough for what you are getting.

If it’s your first time visiting Moreton Bay, staying at the Bali Shack can be a challenge. The Stayz listing could benefit from clearer directions on how to reach the property after disembarking from the barge, as the map provided wasn’t helpful. Thankfully, reading previous reviews helped us prepare. You’ll need access to a 4WD (or to hire one), bring it over on the barge, and expect a drive of around 40 minutes or more depending on sand conditions and driving experience. If it’s your first visit, don’t hesitate to ask locals for directions—they are very friendly and willing to help.For future guests, here are a few tips that may help:When you disembark, Bali Shack is on the left side of the island. Drive all the way to the end of the beach until you see the Bulwer wreck shown in the listing photos. Just before reaching the wreck, take the last right turn. Bali House is the second house on the left and Bali Shack is located at the back of it. Upon arrival, the entrance and interior could have been cleaner. We found the house quite dusty, which caused some sneezing, and we needed to wipe down some furniture. The kitchen items also needed washing before use. We were glad we had brought our own plates and cutlery. But the most alarming is that when you use the toilets, there are frogs inside the toilet bowl and a big lizard inside the house. The water is colour yellow but drinkable. Bring water. For kayaking and snorkelling at the wreack, book ahead at Sunset Safari.
Fans are dusty and rusty. When you open the fan, the dust and rust mix together.
The water is yellow but drinkable. However, if you are not used to it, bring your own water. There is available filtered water available at the shop to buy. The shop is close to the Bali Shack house, which is a blessing.
The mug has mould in it. Some of the pans also has mould. Wash all kitchen utensils before use.
