Find your Second Wind at this charming, newly renovated duplex in Cape Charles! Located just blocks from the beach and downtown action, Second Wind is the perfect place to experience your Cape Charles getaway.
This duplex features a front porch facing a quiet street, as well as a back deck complete with a privacy partition and a fenced in back yard. Step inside to relax in the living room, thoughtfully decorated in beach theme! The open concept is perfect for entertaining your group in the living room while cooking a fabulous meal in the fully-stocked kitchen if you choose to stay in. The downstairs hosts a full bath as well as a private sitting room that doubles as a third bedroom with a queen size sleeper sofa.
Upstairs, you'll find the first bedroom and full bath featuring a full and twin bed. Continue down the hallway to a tucked away laundry room and the primary bedroom. This bedroom also features a full bath and a luxurious queen size bed.
Second Wind has all the amenities one may need including outside furniture, bikes, and a brand new grill!
Guest Access:
We offer convenient door codes for self-check-in. Chesapeake Properties by Portoro uses convenient keyless entry for self check-in, details provided 2 weeks (or less) prior to arrival by email and text message.
• Early check-ins or late check-outs: If the property happens to be ready earlier than the standard 4 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, in most cases an early arrival option may be available when confirmed with the main office. Late check-outs must be confirmed with main office staff prior to the date of departure.

Cape Charles is located near the southern tip of Virginia’s Eastern Shore right on the Chesapeake Bay. Cape Charles is a small town (the historic area is roughly a six block by six block square) that sits on the peninsula’s western coast… meaning you can sit on the beach in Cape Charles and watch the sunset right over the water. On the Chesapeake Bay, not the Atlantic Ocean, the water is calm and shallow. - All guests staying at an Chesapeake Properties Vacation Rentals by Portoro (Portoro Homes) are required to sign (esignature) a rental agreement and complete identity registration.
- Age restrictions apply. Reservation holder must be 25 years of age.
- Upon arrival, we aim to ensure your safety, proper access to the home, and guest features. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Chesapeake Properties by Portoro directly.
- Known damages incurred during your stay must be reported to the property manager immediately.
- Before check in, we will send you detailed directions to ensure a seamless arrival.
- Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 10:00 a.m.
- We cannot guarantee early check ins or late checkouts. When it is possible to check in early or check out late, there will be a fee for anything outside of a one hour window within our standard times. If your need for an early check in or late check out is great, your best option is to book an additional night.
- Some homes have cameras for external monitoring only.
- HOTEL TAX COLLECTION: In the State of Virginia and in Northampton County, all hotel and vacation rental hosts are required to collect hotel tax. We collect these taxes within the booking transaction.
- Some homes offer pools/hot tubs, or access to communal pools. There is no guard around the water features when available. Use at your own risk.
- This is a No Pets property. A daily rate fee of $150.00 will apply for violations and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.
- This is a No Smoking property. Penalty fees for violations will apply and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.
- For the safety of guests and the home, there are noise monitoring devices. These devices only measure the decibel level and do NOT record any audio.
Interaction with Guests:
Our goal is that your vacation exceed your expectations. Chesapeake Properties by Portoro communicates via email and phone. After a booking is confirmed, rental agreement will be emailed to the guest for e-signature. Check-in instructions are sent by email and text message 14 days (or less) prior to arrival date. We offer convenient keyless entry for self-check in. We do typically check in with guests by text 1-2 times during their stays to ensure a 5-star experience and remain available for any questions. We are available to guests 24/7 for any inquiries.

We came to cape Charles to visit family. House was perfect for us. Clean, well appointed, close to town and beach, and well stocked kitchen. We had everything we needed. We appreciate paper products,towels bikes and beach toys suppled. Definitely stay here again.

The Second Wind property is very nice. Good size. The beds weren't very comfortable, so recommend replacing with King or Queen beds. Also, the HVAC wasn't working properly downstairs for most of my stay, which made it very uncomfortable downstairs. The HVAC tech came and looked at the system, but it didn't fix the issue. the location of the property is really good.

My teens and I enjoyed staying in this home. It was well-appointed with beach chairs, toys and floats, a wagon, 3 bikes. We enjoyed time on the front porch, used the grill, and also sacked out on the couches and watched tv. :-) The home was clean and comfortable. AC worked great, laundry and dishwasher were efficient. The upstairs bedrooms were bright and welcoming and the bathrooms were all roomy. The location requires a car or golf cart to get to the beach (or a bike, if you don't bring a lot of stuff with you!) but that wasn't a problem at all. Cape Charles is so small that nothing is actually far away. Overall it was a terrific rental and I'd gladly stay again. I particularly appreciated the flexibility of a partial-week stay.

Bright and Well-Appointed Duplex in the Center of Town
The space was more than I hoped for. It was clean and spacious with a full bathroom on the first floor for anyone who decided to sleep in the back room rather than heading upstairs. Unfortunately, it rained for most of our stay, so we appreciated the huge selection of television channels/apps as well as the perfect card-playing table. Next time, we'll look forward to taking advantage of the cute back deck. And there will be a next time!

Will be definitely returning! This place has everything you’ll need for a PERFECT beach getaway! My family stayed here in celebration of my doctoral degree. It was absolutely amazing. Cape Charles is such a quaint little town. Super family friendly. Quiet, relaxing, and peaceful! Be ready to be in awe as you walk through the doors! From Martha’s Vineyard towels to crate and barrel coffee cups! The detail put into this place is impeccable. Super friendly and accommodating hostess and property management.
