The Pelican is an elegant custom-built home in a private neighborhood that offers the best of both worlds. The popular Oyster Farm Restaurant and wedding venue is conveniently located on Kings Creek Marina at the end of the street. Or take a short golf cart ride to the historic downtown restaurants and shops!



The sophisticated coastal style of the open concept first floor draws you in and is the perfect setting for quiet evenings or fun-filled family nights. There is a 65” smart TV, cozy leather sectional, and a two-sided gas fireplace, shared with the screened in porch. Step through the French doors onto the porch; perfect for morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The beautiful dining area seats 8 and is open to both the living room and kitchen. Make yourself at home in the chef appointed kitchen boasting a gas Wolf range and second wall oven. The coffee bar comes fully equipped with Keurig, drip, French press and pour over options. This level also has a large laundry room, fully fenced in backyard and an outdoor shower - perfect for washing off sand from the beach across the street!



The first floor suite includes a luxurious king bed, television, a full private bath and access to the porch. The second floor has wonderful views, a children’s reading area, and two lovely bedrooms. These bedrooms offer privacy and are joined by a jack-and-jill bathroom. The front room includes a king bed with a WinkBed mattress, television, and a lovely view of the Chesapeake Bay. The second bedroom offers 2 twin bunk beds (4 twins total) and ample closet space. There are two twin cots available in the closet for additional sleeping (the two cots allow for a total of sleeping ten).



The third-floor loft is the perfect place to enjoy panoramic views of the Bay and the Marina! This level includes a sitting area, library, and a large executive desk (an ideal office for working from home). During your stay, please take advantage of the carefully curated library. From here, step out onto the spacious rooftop deck – a perfect spot to settle in with a good book or enjoy conversation and a beverage while you watch the sunset.

We offer convenient door codes for self-check-in. Chesapeake Properties by Portoro uses convenient keyless entry for self check-in, details provided 2 weeks (or less) prior to arrival by email and text message.



• Early check-ins or late check-outs: If the property happens to be ready earlier than the standard 4 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, in most cases an early arrival option may be available when confirmed with the main office. Late check-outs must be confirmed with main office staff prior to the date of departure.



• While the complimentary resort amenities of the Bay Creek Resort are included, please note the Members Life Center is not available to guests.

Cape Charles is located near the southern tip of Virginia’s Eastern Shore right on the Chesapeake Bay. Cape Charles is a small town (the historic area is roughly a six block by six block square) that sits on the peninsula’s western coast… meaning you can sit on the beach in Cape Charles and watch the sunset right over the water. On the Chesapeake Bay, not the Atlantic Ocean, the water is calm and shallow. - All guests staying at an Chesapeake Properties Vacation Rentals by Portoro (Portoro Homes) are required to sign (esignature) a rental agreement and complete identity registration.

- Upon arrival, we aim to ensure your safety, proper access to the home, and guest features. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Chesapeake Properties by Portoro directly.

- Known damages incurred during your stay must be reported to the property manager immediately.

- Before check in, we will send you detailed directions to ensure a seamless arrival.

- Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 10:00 a.m.

- We cannot guarantee early check ins or late checkouts. When it is possible to check in early or check out late, there will be a fee for anything outside of a one hour window within our standard times. If your need for an early check in or late check out is great, your best option is to book an additional night.

- Some homes have cameras for external monitoring only.

- HOTEL TAX COLLECTION: In the State of Virginia and in Northampton County, all hotel and vacation rental hosts are required to collect hotel tax. We collect these taxes within the booking transaction.

- Some homes offer pools/hot tubs, or access to communal pools. There is no guard around the water features when available. Use at your own risk.

- This is a No Pets property. A daily rate fee of $150.00 will apply for violations and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.

- This is a No Smoking property. Penalty fees for violations will apply and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.

- For the safety of guests and the home, there are noise monitoring devices. These devices only measure the decibel level and do NOT record any audio.



Interaction with Guests:

Our goal is that your vacation exceed your expectations. Chesapeake Properties by Portoro communicates via email and phone. After a booking is confirmed, rental agreement will be emailed to the guest for e-signature. Check-in instructions are sent by email and text message 14 days (or less) prior to arrival date. We offer convenient keyless entry for self-check in. We do typically check in with guests by text 1-2 times during their stays to ensure a 5-star experience and remain available for any questions. We are available to guests 24/7 for any inquiries.



We follow the CDC Recommended Cleaning Guidelines. You can rest assured this property has been completely sanitized prior to check-in.

Love this house and this town!

First time stay in Cape Charles and we had such a good week! So clean and safe. Perfect for our toddler grandson and also fun places to eat and drink for the adults. The Pelican house itself was awesome too! Such a clean and upscale home. The layout worked well for us with the grandparents on the first floor and our adult kids/grandkids on the 2nd. And let’s not forget the 3rd level - the rooftop office and lounge! The absolute perfect location to start and end your day. Coffee in the morning with sunshine and gentle breeze. And end the day there with fantastic sunsets. The house has so many extras including board games, books, beach towels, chairs & toys. Lots of fun entertainment at your fingertips. Last thing is great linens and really good beds. Plus the kitchen has great appliances and cookware. You won’t be disappointed!
