“I was nervous to stay here, given previous poor reviews but actually I think they were far too harsh. This is an old, period property with wooden beamed ceilings and wonky walls! So it’s not modern and would benefit from new carpets etc. But it’s clean and quiet and perfectly adequate for the price. I would stay again if in the area. ”

“Not far from the railway station (a nice 15 minute walk), and the pedestrian area ( 5 minutes) very kind and always available staff. They assigned me a doble room even though i was alone. Right below the hotel there is the stop for the 700 bus with wich i went to Brighton. I would happily return to this hotel.”

The Landlord was very helpful in providing the best route to re join the South Downs Way the following morning. Unfortunately the nearby cafes were not open for breakfast on Monday - The Green Welly doesn't open and The Nutmeg doesn't open on Bank holidays! We resorted to buying two baguettes from The White Lion and having them for breakfast and lunch!”
