“Friendly staff, comfortable bed, nothing special but a reasonable place to stay for a reasonable price. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re a light sleeper or a princess but we enjoyed our stay. ”

“We checked in late at 10pm on a Friday. The air conditioning unit did not work in Room 11. The room was very hot. We were too tired to go and request a different room. We opened the windows and made do. They were accomodating with late check out and were very friendly. Other than the heat/AC issue, it was a great stay. Comfortable beds and clean. ”

“This was potentially the worst hotel stay I've ever had. I've never stayed in a room with such poor sound proofing before and sleeping was miserable. You could hear EVERY time someone opened their door. It didn't help that the bar had karaoke playing super loudly too on Friday and Saturday night. You could hear everything. The guy working at the front desk was lovely but there's only so much you can do to block the noise. It was hard to fall asleep before 1am and I was woken up both mornings...

“Given the rate, I did not have high expectations; however, cleanliness is an area that could be improved. The fridge and microwave were not cleaned, which may have been an oversight. The bedsheets also had hair on them, so I wasn’t entirely sure if they had been changed after the previous guest checked out.”

“The Cottage and Castle is absolutely charming, beautifully decorated and situated in a lovely neighborhood of colourfully painted houses and As well it is anIt’s a real gem. However as we returned after an evening out the stench in the air from a soil, composting, wastewater and recycling treatment plant was overwhelming. I there is a solution to this as Chemainus is a charming town and the Cottage and Castle was exceptional! ”

“Oh boy...I greatly dislike writing negative reviews. While Chemainus is adorable, the location is fantastic and the exterior is a dream...this aint it. Mouldy drapes, a number of amenities were broken (electric fireplace, mouldy fridge), no wifi, questionably clean bedsheets. And (I have photos as proof) a white substance residue left on the counter next to the bed. I will say that the indoor jet tub was amazing! I swear I heard a cough below us at one point and noticed a little door that looked...

“I think it was a good place to stay. It's a bit loud near the highway but the window is very good at blocking the sound. Better than you'd expect for the price.”

“The room was very worn, but the worst was the shower, which was essentially unusable due to stains of an unknown origin. Through no fault of the owners, the city as a whole is not a safe place to visit, particularly in the area where the property is located. We had someone clearly under the influence of some sort of substance repeatedly try to enter our room, and would not leave until police were involved. There is no amount of money you could pay me to stay here again, which is a shame as the...
