Papa's Place

Welcome to Papa's Place!

Our comfortable 2 bedroom, 1 bath, lakefront house with a beautiful sunroom. The entire house is yours to feel at home in. It is just steps down to the private dock and grassy lawn. The wrap around patio has a gas BBQ grill and plenty of seating. The balcony overlooks the lake where you can read a book, throw your lines out, or watch the Hydroflites ski show just half block away- which is also where the public boat launch is.



Across the road is a public park with a large playground, and a couple blocks north is the public swim beach. The downtown area has antique stores, restaurants, bars, pubs and more, as well as a grocery store to get yourself stocked for your stay.



There are plenty of fun places to boat to for lunch or a drink. Some of our favorite are Red's Grill and Bar (really good pizza), Pokegama Lakeside Cantina for upscale Mexican, or Gilligan's for a lively atmosphere. And they all have live music pretty often too! Our favorite is probably Phills Bar and Grill. A very casual place with a surprisingly amazing menu.



We do not take dogs for allergy reasons, but there are local boarding kennels for your furry family members. Including Cozy Critter Kennel.



We truly hope you enjoy Papa's Place in Chetek as much as we do.

This cabin is amazing. There were three of us here for an ice fishing weekend. The place had everything we needed. And when I say it is right on the water, I mean it is right on the water. We had a great time. And we caught some really nice fish.

We had an amazing week with the kiddos. Papa’s place worked out perfect for us with an excellent location. Karen was also very helpful and responsive with any questions or anything we needed. We will be booking Papas Place on the regular.

Cabin with a great view!

Cabin has a great view of the lake and excellent location for watching the water ski show. Master bed was very comfortable sleeping. Nice boat dock and short walk from the cabin. Nice back patio area for grilling & seating area. Nice bonfire area. Owner very friendly & responds quickly,

Heavenly

Wanted to get away from the big city for a few days and this was the absolute perfect place. The Townsfolk are very friendly and the property is right on the water. The view could not be more perfect. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for some peace.

Great little lake place

Overall we really enjoyed our time at this nice place on the lake. If you want to be close to the lake with terrific views then this place could be for you! We had fun looking out at the lake from inside as well as outside down by the dock. At the time we were there it was extremely quiet, which we liked. It was very clean inside with the only issue being that whoever cleaned it before our arrival left the dirty linen by the front door when we walked in. Otherwise everything looked and felt clean. I seen a previous review by another guest about hearing a critter in the wall. The owners did seem to be implementing a process to eliminate the issue, however we did also hear a little something in the wall a time or two at night, but it wasn't any big deal at all for us. In the end this was a really great, fun place for us to stay. Good memories made!!

Hunting/Fishing Trip

This is the second year we've stayed at Papa's Place. Love the location and property. Have had an ongoing issue with some sort of critters in the walls causing a shortage of sleep. Brought this to the attn. of Karen and she has identified working on the problem. If hunting in the area again, it is likely we would book again.

Quaint, Cute, Comfortable!

Papa’s Place was adorable. The perfect size for a family of four. The bath towels were the best we have ever had in a VRBO and the water pressure was amazing! The beds are all nice mattresses and the furniture is clean and comfortable. The dock is really nice and the view is lovely. There is a park right across the street that our kids enjoyed and a beach just up the street! Great stay!

Clean and relaxing

The property was just like the pictures and is conveniently located. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and dock and the views from inside the home. The home has been updated throughout and worked well for our group of 6. The only issue we had was with the wifi which did not work while we were there. We communicated to the host and she said she would look into it so hopefully it will work for the next guests. Overall, we would definitely return!

Disappointed

We were extremely disappointed in the condition of Papa’s Place. Both inside and outside have not been cared for. The cabin was very dirty inside…has not been fully cleaned in a very long time. The view could have been lovely but the windows were dirty and full of bugs. We also had ants in the kitchen. We only used the fridge. The window air conditioner in the living room kept the cabin cool but was loud. There was a musty smell coming from somewhere. The outside area was in disrepair and dirty as well. We sat on the dock one evening to watch the water ski show but otherwise didn’t spend time outside. The wood deck needs painting and some wooden steps approaching the cabin are not safe.

Excellent stay & location. Easy lake access. Very clean & comfortable! Temporary big parking lot right across street was helpful. So much fun watching the Chetek Hydroflites perform & practice from deck & adirondack chairs! Will stay again!

Fantastic cabin - Great fishing

This fantastic cabin right on the lake has everything you need at your finger tips. You could not get a better view and town is just 5 minutes away. My husband and I were very comfortable and the fishing was great!

Great stay at Papa’s Place!

Myself and a couple of buddies came up for a guys ice fishing weekend. Papa’s place was the perfect spot for us and the location was great. Owners were awesome and with great communication. Will definitely be back. Thank you!
